People in Sung hamlet, Cao Son commune (Da Bac) develop community tourism associated with preserving traditional crafts.
"Previously, growing rice and corn was just enough to eat. Since the commune's guidance, people have learned to grow more arrowroot, raise animals properly, and their lives have become much better!" - Ms. Dinh Thi Thuy, a arrowroot grower in Son Phu hamlet, Cao Son commune shared.
According to the data of Cao Son Commune People's Committee, this year's winter-spring crop, the whole commune planted 70 hectares of rice with varieties Thien Uu 8, TBR225, DS1, JO2... The corn area reached 440 hectares, mainly hybrid corn varieties with high yield. Galangal is identified as one of the main crops with an area of 483 hectares. "We identify agriculture as the spearhead in the economic development of the commune. To improve productivity and income for people, the commune actively encourages people to change crop structure, introduce new varieties into production, and at the same time provide guidance on cultivation techniques and pest control" - said Mr. Ban Van Xuan, Vice Chairman of Cao Son Commune People's Committee.
Not only cultivation, animal husbandry in Cao Son has also made significant progress. Livestock and poultry are cared for, disease prevention is ensured, disease safety is ensured, risks are minimized, economic efficiency is improved, helping people increase their income. In addition, the commune focuses on developing small-scale industry, trade and services. Fragrant corn wine kilns, handmade vermicelli factories, or wood processing facilities are contributing to creating more jobs and increasing income for people.
The improvement of economic life has led to positive changes in culture and society. Cultural and sports activities are organized in conjunction with major national holidays and anniversaries, attracting a large number of people to participate, contributing to strengthening solidarity in the ethnic community. Attention is paid to preserving traditional cultural identities, especially the languages, costumes and festivals typical of the Muong and Dao ethnic groups.
In the first quarter of 2025, the commune will focus on synchronously implementing solutions for socio-economic development associated with ensuring social security for ethnic minorities. The commune has organized a review and grasped the living conditions of households to provide timely support. Of which, 9 households were approved for housing support under Program 134, ensuring the right subjects and progress.
Health, education and poverty reduction work continues to be effectively implemented. Since the beginning of the year, the commune health station has examined and treated nearly 700 people; disseminated information on disease prevention and control, and food hygiene and safety to 100% of the hamlets. The rate of students attending class remains stable...
From the implementation of resolutions, mobilizing people to produce, resolving complaints and denunciations, mass mobilization work... being focused on, listening to people's thoughts and aspirations, promptly resolving grievances and conflicts in the community has created consensus, solidarity and unanimity among the people in the cause of building new rural areas. By the end of 2024, the average income per capita of the whole commune reached over 42 million VND/year, the poverty rate decreased to nearly 11%.
Comrade Ban Van Xuan, Vice Chairman of Cao Son Commune People's Committee added: In the coming time, the commune will continue to integrate state support programs and projects, while promoting internal resources, exploiting local potentials and strengths to gradually increase income, improve people's lives, and maintain the criteria of a new rural commune.
