Local authorities sent forces to help people reinforce dikes to protect rice fields.

In the past few days, due to the impact of local rainfall combined with water flowing from upstream, many rice fields in Hung Dien commune have been affected.

According to data from the People's Committee of Hung Dien commune, in the 2025 Autumn-Winter rice crop, farmers in the commune planted nearly 2,300 hectares; to date, nearly 800 hectares have been harvested, with nearly 1,500 hectares still in the flowering and ripening stages.

The high water level has caused about 330 hectares of rice to be partially flooded and more than 40 hectares of rice are threatened. Currently, farmers are reinforcing the dykes and pumping out water to save the rice.

There are 40 hectares of rice in Bung Ram hamlet, the water level outside is 1 meter higher than the field surface so the water cannot drain, people use machinery, local authorities mobilize forces to help people reinforce the embankment to rescue this rice area, limiting the damage caused.

More than 40 hectares of rice are at risk of being lost due to rapidly rising water levels.

Deputy Commander of Hung Dien Commune Military Command Le Thanh Hung said that after receiving information from the people of Bung Ram hamlet, in the past 2 days, the Commune Military Command has mobilized nearly 100 officers and soldiers to reinforce the nearly 2km long dike. In the coming days, the Commune Military Command is ready to mobilize forces to continue supporting the people to protect the safety of this rice area.

According to Vice Chairman of Hung Dien Commune People's Committee Le Phan Quang Trung, in the face of the rapid increase in water levels in recent days, the local government has sent 30-40 youth union members, military, police, and border guards every day to reinforce the dike sections with farmers, protecting the 40 hectares in the immediate future. In the coming time, the commune will continue to review the situation and monitor regularly to work with the people to reinforce the dike sections in a timely manner, avoiding damage to people's production.

Although the locality does not recommend farmers to plant the 2025 Autumn-Winter rice crop to limit damage caused by the risk of floods, high tides and the infection of pests from the Summer-Autumn crop, ensuring good results for the 2025-2026 Winter-Spring rice crop, however, farmers in Hung Dien commune still spontaneously plant this rice crop./.
