Local authorities deployed forces to help people reinforce dikes to protect their rice crops.

Over the past few days, due to the combined effects of local rainfall and water flowing from upstream, many rice fields in Hung Dien commune have been affected.

According to data from the People's Committee of Hung Dien commune, in the 2025 Autumn-Winter rice crop, farmers in the commune planted nearly 2,300 hectares; to date, nearly 800 hectares have been harvested, and nearly 1,500 hectares are still in the flowering and ripening stages.

High water levels have caused localized flooding in approximately 330 hectares of rice fields, and more than 40 hectares are threatened. Farmers are currently reinforcing dikes and pumping out water to save their crops.

In Bung Ram hamlet, there are still 40 hectares of rice fields where the water level is more than 1 meter higher than the field surface, preventing drainage. Local residents are using machinery, and the local authorities have mobilized forces to help reinforce the embankments to save this rice crop and minimize damage.

Over 40 hectares of rice fields belonging to local residents are at risk of total crop loss due to rapidly rising water levels.

According to Deputy Commander of Hung Dien Commune Military Command, Le Thanh Hung, upon receiving reports from residents of Bung Ram hamlet, the commune's Military Command has mobilized nearly 100 officers and soldiers over the past two days to reinforce a nearly 2km long section of the dike. In the coming days, the commune's Military Command is ready to mobilize forces to continue supporting the people in protecting the safety of this rice paddy area.

According to Le Phan Quang Trung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hung Dien commune, in response to the rapidly rising water levels in recent days, the local authorities have deployed 30-40 youth union members, military personnel, police, and border guards daily to reinforce sections of the dike alongside farmers, initially protecting 40 hectares. Going forward, the commune will continue to assess the situation and monitor it regularly to promptly reinforce dike sections with the people, preventing damage to agricultural production.

Although the local authorities did not recommend that farmers plant rice in the Autumn-Winter 2025 season to minimize damage from the risk of floods, tidal surges, and the spread of pests from the Summer-Autumn crop, and to ensure a good harvest in the Winter-Spring 2025-2026 season, farmers in Hung Dien commune still spontaneously planted rice in this season.
