Yen Truong commune collaborated with a technology company to demonstrate the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) in agricultural production.
Formed by the merger of four communes: Yen Trung, Yen Phong, Yen Thai, and Yen Truong from the former Yen Dinh district, all possessing strengths in agriculture , Yen Truong commune currently has nearly 3,800 hectares of cultivated land. Of this, over 480 hectares are under production linkage and product consumption agreements. This provides favorable conditions for the commune to implement large-scale, concentrated commodity production models, applying high technology, and replicating them in other mass production areas.
To maximize the potential and advantages in agricultural production, Yen Truong commune has collaborated with technology companies to implement the " Digital Technology Field" model in Phuong Lai village, bringing high-tech machinery and equipment to support farmers in changing their production methods.
According to calculations, applying technology to production will help reduce labor by 30-40% and increase productivity by 5-10% compared to traditional methods. At the same time, the model also saves 30-40% of fertilizers and pesticides, contributing to reduced environmental pollution and protecting public health.
As a farmer deeply connected to the fields, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa from Tan Phong village said: “Previously, if we sprayed pesticides and fertilizers manually, it would take one person a whole morning to finish 1 hectare of rice. Now, with drones, spraying fertilizer and pesticides only takes about 10-15 minutes. Not only does it save time, but this equipment also protects farmers' health by eliminating direct contact with chemicals. Furthermore, it ensures more even distribution of pesticides and fertilizers, leading to more uniform crop growth and higher economic efficiency.”
No longer forced to toil under the sun and rain, farmers here are beginning to shift their production methods from traditional to "digital" farming by using self-propelled plows and transplanters guided by automatic navigation devices, drones, and combine harvesters.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Nam, Chairman of the People's Committee of Yen Truong commune, said: “The commune has set a target of 53 hectares of agricultural land consolidated for large-scale, high-tech agricultural production. Of this, 10 hectares will be used for high-tech agricultural production. To achieve this goal, the commune is promoting the “three-party” linkage model – farmers, businesses, and the State – to develop the commune's agricultural production towards high technology, increase productivity and product value, and make agriculture a strength in the local economic development.”
Determined to continue promoting land consolidation and concentration in accordance with Resolution No. 13-NQ/TU of the 18th Provincial Party Committee; to transform crops and products to suit advantages and market demands; and to improve the productivity and quality of key and advantageous products, Yen Truong commune is continuing to attract investment capital from businesses, residential areas, and other economic sectors into agriculture and rural areas to enhance the value of agricultural production; to effectively implement the "One Commune One Product" (OCOP) program; to direct the acceleration of land consolidation and concentration plans for large-scale, high-tech agricultural production, prioritizing the expansion of areas for high-economic-value crops with wide markets; and to strengthen the attraction of post-harvest processing projects associated with the planning and development of specialized farming areas and advantageous crops.
In addition, the commune encourages the development of cooperative economic models to strengthen joint ventures and linkages, focusing on connecting and cooperating between farmers, businesses, scientists, and the State to create products and build brands associated with consumption, in order to promote sustainable development in the agricultural sector. The goal is to achieve a product value of over 192 million VND/hectare for crop and aquaculture production by 2026.
