ANTD.VN - Lang Son province has submitted to the Prime Minister a pilot project for building a smart border gate on the dedicated goods transport route in the area of markers 1119 - 1120 and the goods clearance route in the area of markers 1088/2 - 1089 belonging to Huu Nghi International Border Gate - Huu Nghi Quan.
Lang Son province continues to improve infrastructure in border gate areas to facilitate import and export activities with China. |
According to Mr. Nguyen Vinh Phu, Deputy Head of the Management Board of the Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Economic Zone, the province has now completed the project proposal to submit to the Government, which includes many comprehensive solutions for consideration by the Central Government and relevant ministries and agencies.
Previously, Lang Son province (Vietnam) and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China) agreed to jointly promote the pilot construction of a smart border gate along the dedicated freight transport route of Huu Nghi - Huu Nghi Quan border gate.
The smart border crossing will utilize autonomous, driverless container transport vehicles, automated cranes, intelligent mapping systems, and will be able to complete cross-border logistics information exchange between the two countries. In addition, goods will be handled automatically and unmanned 24 hours a day.
The project is expected to be completed and put into operation by the end of December 2024.
According to Mr. Nguyen Vinh Phu, after the smart border gate system is put into operation, it will help increase customs clearance capacity and import-export turnover by 2-3 times compared to the present by 2027 and 4-5 times by 2030.
In addition, smart border gates will reduce wharf and customs clearance costs by 30-40% at both Huu Nghi and Tan Thanh border areas.
In particular, border gates will promote the transformation of businesses' production and export methods towards formal and professional channels; minimizing economic risks for Vietnamese businesses when trading in the current form.
Besides building smart border gates, Lang Son province is also continuing to improve the infrastructure in the border gate area.
According to the People's Committee of Lang Son province, the total value of goods imported and exported through the province increased sharply compared to 2022, estimated at 4,780 million USD, reaching 125.8% of the plan and increasing by 56.2%.
