These days, in the fields of Chieng Thuong sub-district, Phu Yen commune, people are focusing on thinning and replanting; proactively managing water sources to nourish the rice plants, and controlling rats and golden apple snails to protect the spring rice crop. Mr. Bac Tam Nhi, from Chieng Thuong sub-district, said: "My family planted over 1,500 m² of spring rice with J02 and BC15 varieties. Currently, the rice is in the tillering stage, so I proactively weed and regularly monitor the rice fields to promptly detect and control pests and diseases. In particular, implementing the 'My Own Rice Field' model, I strictly adhere to the organic rice cultivation process, using '4 correct' pesticides and organic fertilizers. When the rice grows and develops panicles, I spray biological pesticides to control pests and diseases."
Since 2019, Quang Huy Agricultural Service Cooperative has implemented an organic rice farming model on a scale of 30 hectares. To date, the cooperative is producing 130 hectares of organic rice, linked to the "Our Own Rice Field" model. Annually, it sells over 400 tons of rice to the market, creating regular employment for 7 workers and seasonal employment for 30 local workers. Mr. Cam Van Long, a member of Quang Huy Agricultural Service Cooperative, shared: "My family has nearly 1 hectare of spring rice. We use biological pesticides and fertilizers that are all safe and environmentally friendly products; every year, 100% of the organic rice from my family and other members in the commune is purchased by the cooperative, giving us peace of mind in our production."

Phu Yen commune was established by merging the communes of Huy Tan, Huy Thuong, Huy Ha, Huy Tuong, and Quang Huy town. It is a key rice-growing area with a large area of over 1,800 hectares, concentrated in contiguous plots; and abundant water resources from Suoi Chieu lake flowing into Tac stream. To realize this potential and advantage, in recent years, farmers have linked production with consumption along the value chain, forming a rice production area following organic farming practices, improving quality and sustainability. To date, the entire commune has 570.5 hectares of rice produced organically, linked to the "Our Own Rice Field" model, concentrated in the villages and sub-districts of Chieng Thuong, Giao village, Buc village, Mo Nghe, Chieng Chung, Chieng Ha, etc. Of this, 130 hectares have been certified as organic agricultural production by the Hanoi Center for Analysis and Certification of Agricultural Products. In 2023, the Intellectual Property Office granted a trademark registration certificate for "Organic Rice," and the product received certificates as a representative product for two consecutive years, 2023 and 2024.
Assessment shows that organic rice farming offers many benefits to producers, such as: reducing the use of pesticides, utilizing agricultural waste to make organic fertilizer, thus saving production costs, protecting the environment, and improving soil for long-term, sustainable production. Comparisons on the same land area, in the same season, and with the same crop varieties show that the yields of rice varieties BC15, TBR225, Dai Thom 8, Du Huong 8, Nep Thom 86, and Hana 318 reached 62-63 quintals/hectare, an increase of about 5-6% compared to traditional farming.

Since implementing the two-tiered local government model and continuing to build the Phu Yen rice brand, from July 2025 to the present, the commune has directed the Commune's General Service Center to organize 5 training courses on building organic rice production models, with nearly 2,000 participants; organized a workshop on tray seedling and machine transplanting models in Chieng Thuong sub-area; and organized 23 training courses, with nearly 800 farmers participating in the model of applying advanced SRI technology to organic rice production. Technical guidance and advice on rice varieties and organic fertilizers to maintain organic rice production in the spring and autumn seasons have been provided to 1,313 people in the commune.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thinh, Director of the Phu Yen Commune General Service Center, informed: The Center assigns staff to closely monitor the situation at the grassroots level to raise awareness among the people about building and developing the Phu Yen rice brand. They guide farmers on cultivation techniques and the use of organic fertilizers or other reliable fertilizers supplied by reputable establishments; they closely monitor pest and disease outbreaks to prevent and control them promptly, improving yield and quality, and protecting crops.
Thanks to the proactive efforts of specialized agencies and the people in producing rice organically, the spring rice crop in Phu Yen commune is developing well, promising a bountiful harvest and further developing the Phu Yen rice brand.
