A landslide occurred in the Ba Xam culvert area.

(CTO) - On May 22, Mr. Nguyen Minh Liem, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dai Ngai commune (Can Tho City), said that a landslide occurred in the Ba Xam sluice gate area, affecting transportation and the lives of people living along the river.

The landslide has encroached further inland in the area of ​​the Ba Xam sluice gate.

According to initial reports, due to the strong current and high velocity, a section of the riverbank approximately 20 meters long has collapsed, eroding about 2 meters inland. The landslide caused the riverbank soil to fall into the river and be swept away by the water, posing a potential risk to households living near the area.

Authorities have put up ropes and warning signs about the danger of landslides to raise public awareness.

Immediately after the incident occurred, local leaders quickly arrived to survey the situation, erect warning signs, and educate residents to be vigilant and avoid moving or gathering near the landslide area. They also continued to closely monitor the situation to promptly implement remedial measures in the coming time.

The People's Committee of Dai Ngai commune also advised residents to proactively monitor weather conditions, regularly observe any unusual signs in areas along rivers and canals, and promptly report them to the local authorities to minimize damage caused by landslides.
