Teaching and studying at other schools
Vo Chi Cong High School project in A Xan commune, Tay Giang district has been implemented since 2016 in two phases with a total investment of more than 63 billion VND.
Phase 1 includes items such as classroom buildings, student boarding areas, slope embankments, administrative areas, laboratories, libraries, public houses, and multi-purpose houses invested by the Department of Education and Training. with a budget of more than 33 billion VND.
In 2019, the province continued to approve the phase 2 project with an investment of nearly 30 billion VND, with the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board as the investor, continuing to deploy the next items.
The school was put into use in the 2019 school year, but students had not been studying for long when, after the floods at the end of 2020, there was a serious landslide in the hills behind the school.
Thousands of blocks of soil and rock fell from the slopes, accompanied by large cracks at the top of the hill, directly affecting teaching and learning.

To ensure safety, the Tay Giang district government has organized the transfer of students to temporary study at Tay Giang High School and temporary boarding at the district's Vocational Training Center dormitory.
According to records, Vo Chi Cong High School was built spaciously on a hill that currently has no students or teachers, and has been abandoned for four years. The walls are covered with moss and dirt and look very messy.
The hills and mountains behind this school still reveal many large cracks from previous landslides, and the embankment has not yet been constructed.
From 2020 until now, the school's teachers and students have had to study "thanks" in 7 classrooms of Tay Giang High School and live in a boarding house next to the small, old school. They look forward to the day they can return to their old school. .
Mr. Nguyen Cong Tuoi - principal of Vo Chi Cong High School, said that currently there are 233 students with 7 classes studying thanks to the classrooms of Tay Giang High School. The boarding area is located next to this school, the district also invested in a kitchen to serve students.
"Teachers and students want the school to be invested in building a safe school so they can return to teach, creating peace of mind for students" - Mr. Tuoi said.
Invest in landslide prevention embankments
Previously, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province had decided to approve the investment policy adjustment of the Vo Chi Cong school project, the total cost of this phase 3 is nearly 29 billion VND.
The project will carry out leveling and creating slopes, excavating landslides in 2020, building embankments to protect slopes, and reinforcing slope protection. So compared to the initial investment, this project now has more capital to overcome landslides.
Mr. Nguyen Cong Thanh - deputy director of the Quang Nam Construction Investment Project Management Board, said that the board has currently submitted a plan to select a contractor to organize bidding for anti-slip embankments around the school.
