Reportedly, most Android phones on the market are using chips from Qualcomm and MediaTek. If the rumors are accurate, Xiaomi could be a new competitor to these two companies.

Currently, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and MediaTek's Dimensity 9400 chip are the flagship 3nm chips featured in new and upcoming high-end smartphones. Xiaomi devices also utilize chips from these two manufacturers.
Xiaomi's intention to manufacture its own chips will pave the way for future devices to feature custom chipsets developed by the company itself, based on the 3nm process.
In a recent report, DigiTimes revealed that Xiaomi plans to announce its proprietary chipset in 2025. However, the exact date has not yet been disclosed. Given that it's a 3nm SoC, the tech community expects the new chipset to deliver impressive performance.
Xiaomi recently unveiled the Xiaomi 15 Series with the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, so it's possible that a new, self-developed processor will power the Xiaomi line expected to launch in late 2025.
