In the two major cities of the province, Bien Hoa City and Long Khanh City, from the beginning of 2 until now, the traffic police force has carried out regular and irregular alcohol tests on roads, especially at night. Therefore, there have been hundreds of cases of alcohol violations detected and severely handled.
According to Bien Hoa City Police, in the first quarter of 2023, the Traffic Police - Order Team of the City Police has made a record to handle more than 1 cases of alcohol violations, stripping 560 driving licenses. And in Long Khanh City, from February 22 (starting to patrol, inspect and handle thematic violations Drivers of road, rail, inland waterways vehicles and railway workers directly serving train operations with drugs in their bodies, violating alcohol content) so far, there have been 2 cases of alcohol violations being handled by motorbike drivers (mainly drivers).
Lieutenant Colonel Pham Van Hien, Captain of the Traffic Police - Order Team of Bien Hoa City Police said: “With the goal of reducing traffic accidents related to alcohol and beer, we have strengthened handling of alcohol-related violations in the city. The Traffic Police - Order Team has developed a nightly plan to handle cases of vehicle drivers violating alcohol content. Particularly on Saturday and Sunday, violations of alcohol concentration will be handled both at noon and in the evening.
In the first quarter of 2023, according to the National Traffic Safety Committee (Traffic Safety), traffic accidents continued to be controlled and reduced deeply compared to the same period in 2022; Specifically: a decrease of 15,43% in the number of cases, a decrease of 15,23% in the number of deaths and a decrease of 8,57% in the number of injured people. In particular, the number of traffic accidents caused by vehicle drivers violating regulations on alcohol concentration decreased sharply compared to previous years. Particularly in Dong Nai, in the first quarter of 2023, 48 traffic accidents occurred, killing 49 people and injuring 24 others. Compared to the same period in 2023, the number of traffic accidents decreased by 12 cases, the number of deaths decreased by 6 people, the number of injured people increased by 3 people.
According to statistics of Dong Nai General Hospital, from the beginning of 2023 until now, there have been about 680 hospitalizations due to traffic accidents with blood alcohol concentration. Doctor CCII Dang Ha Huu Phuoc, Deputy Director of Dong Nai General Hospital, said that although still at a high level, the number of people hospitalized due to alcohol-related traffic accidents is on a downward trend compared to the same period in 2022.
* Change driver behavior
