The warmth of the mainland on a remote island.

On the last afternoon of the year, the atmosphere at Da Nang naval port was bustling and hectic. Officers and soldiers from agencies and units under the 3rd Naval Region were urgently transporting goods and Tet gifts onto ships to ensure timely departure to the islands.

Officers and soldiers of the 3rd Naval Region are transferring Tet gifts onto ships to be presented to the military and people of the Con Co Special Zone (Quang Tri province) and the Ly Son Special Zone ( Quang Ngai province).

This year's Tet holiday, along with the attention of the Party, the State, the Ministry of National Defense , the Navy, the Command of Naval Region 3, the military and people of Con Co and Ly Son special zones continue to receive thoughtful care and attention from Party committees, governments, agencies, units, businesses, and individuals nationwide.

Lieutenant Ngo Dinh Chinh, Assistant to the People's Mobilization Department (Political Department of the 3rd Naval Region), reported: In addition to the prescribed standards, officers, soldiers, and people on the islands also received many meaningful and valuable gifts from localities, political and social organizations, businesses, and individuals. Besides common Tet gifts such as: banh chung (traditional rice cake), sticky rice, mung beans, gio (Vietnamese sausage), cha (Vietnamese sausage), vermicelli, dried bamboo shoots..., the military and people of Con Co and Ly Son special zones also received gifts with the distinct flavors of their hometowns and local products such as: Nhat Tan peaches, Tu Lien kumquat trees, Hanoi Tet jam, Thai Nguyen dried tea...

During the working trip, the 3rd Naval Region presented Tet gifts from the Regional Command and its subordinate agencies and units to officers, soldiers, and forces performing duties on the two frontline islands and at sea. At the same time, they received, transported, and coordinated the distribution of 750 million VND in cash, 150 gift packages, and 70 boxes of essential goods and living supplies from localities, agencies, organizations, businesses, and individuals to officers and soldiers of the 3rd Naval Region and the military and civilians of the two special zones of Con Co and Ly Son, with a total value of over 1.5 billion VND.

In a conversation with us, Rear Admiral Nguyen Dang Tien, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of the 3rd Naval Region, said: “The visit and New Year greetings to the Con Co and Ly Son special zones is a vivid testament to the close and unwavering relationship between the Party committees, governments, armed forces, and people of the localities, agencies, organizations, and businesses with the naval forces in general and the military and people of the two special zones in particular. The trip demonstrates the deep and consistent concern of the Party, the State, the Ministry of National Defense, and the Navy; the responsible support of the Party committees and governments of the localities; and the sharing and affection of agencies, organizations, businesses, and individuals inside and outside the military. It is an extension of the bond between the mainland and the sea and islands, and an affirmation that, under any circumstances, the sea and islands are never alone, because behind every wave is the will of an entire nation. The gifts brought on this trip are not just material but also represent faith and trust.” It is the warmth of the mainland, a message that says: "Behind the soldier is the homeland, in front of him is the sea and sky of his native land."

The deep bond between soldiers and civilians amidst the vast ocean.

Having departed from Da Nang naval port the previous afternoon, it was only the following morning that Ship 628 (311th Squadron, 161st Brigade, 3rd Naval Region) brought the delegation from the 3rd Naval Region to Con Co Island. In the morning light, Con Co appeared like a gem amidst the azure sea. After performing the national flag-raising ceremony; offering incense in remembrance of President Ho Chi Minh at the Ho Chi Minh Memorial House, and offering incense at the Monument to the Heroes and Martyrs, the delegation visited, presented gifts, and extended New Year greetings to the military, civilians, and forces on the Con Co Special Zone.

During our voyage to the Ly Son Special Economic Zone, we had the opportunity to participate in a New Year's greeting program in the form of a dialogue at sea and a cultural and artistic exchange program with the theme "Spring on the Island - Warmth of Military-Civilian Relations," which was truly touching.

Along with New Year greetings via radio from the leaders of the 3rd Naval Region, officers and soldiers of units on patrol and combat readiness duty at sea also enjoyed cultural performances praising the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, pride in the traditions of the Army, the naval soldier, and love for the homeland, country, sea, and islands of the Fatherland, performed by members of the working group and officers and soldiers of Ship 628.

Upon arriving at Ly Son Special Zone, we were able to immerse ourselves in the spring festivities and celebrate the Lunar New Year early with the officers and soldiers of Radar Station 550 (351st Regiment, 3rd Naval Region). Under the skillful hands of the soldiers, the New Year's Eve reception room was beautifully and attractively decorated. Ms. Nguyen Thi Canh, Secretary of the Youth Union of An Hai Kindergarten (Ly Son Special Zone), shared: “In the remote island, the bond between the military and the people remains strong and enduring. The station's activities always involve the full participation and coordination of the school's officers, teachers, and Youth Union members.”
