On the morning of May 17th, at the Cua Viet beach area (Cua Viet commune, Quang Tri province), the Con Co Island Marine Reserve Management Board, in coordination with the Cua Viet Port Border Guard Station (under the Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard) and local fishermen, released three green sea turtles back into the marine environment.
Earlier, while fishing in the Con Co fishing grounds, fisherman Bui Dinh Thuy (residing in Hamlet 4, Cua Viet Commune) discovered three sea turtles, each weighing approximately 1.5 kg, simultaneously caught in his net.
Knowing that this was a rare species that needed priority protection, fisherman Bui Dinh Thuy quickly reported it to the local authorities and relevant agencies.
