Speaking at the program, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang affirmed that in 2025, our country achieved many historical accomplishments. Sharing in that joy and pride, the Vietnamese community abroad, with more than 6.5 million people living and working in over 130 countries and territories, far from their homeland, always look towards their country with deep love and faith.
Wherever they live, study, and work, our compatriots continuously preserve their national cultural identity, actively integrate into the local society, make many important contributions to the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland, share joys and sorrows with their compatriots at home, and at the same time contribute to strengthening understanding and connection between Vietnam and other countries, peoples, and partners around the world.
With the profound attention of the Party, State, National Assembly, Government, and the Fatherland Front, the participation of the entire political system, and the support of the people, in 2025, work related to overseas Vietnamese will continue to be implemented proactively, comprehensively, and achieve many positive results. The connection between overseas Vietnamese and their homeland will be strengthened to better meet their legitimate needs; to honor national cultural identity and the Vietnamese language; and to unlock and effectively utilize the valuable resources and intellect of the Vietnamese community worldwide.
The Resolution of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam affirmed the determination to promote the strength of national unity for the goal of building a peaceful, prosperous, civilized, and happy Vietnam. With that spirit, the theme of the 2026 Spring Homeland Festival, "Vietnam's Aspiration - Peace and Prosperity," reflects the determination and belief of the entire nation, including the Vietnamese community abroad – an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation – in its journey to rise and stand shoulder to shoulder with the world's leading powers, as President Ho Chi Minh always hoped.

Speaking at the event, President Luong Cuong expressed his delight at the continued presence, contributions, and support of overseas Vietnamese in Vietnam's achievements. The image of the contingent of overseas Vietnamese participating for the first time in the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd, is vivid evidence of the spirit of national unity and harmony.
Following the beloved President Ho Chi Minh's advice on showing affection for our compatriots abroad, which is "human kindness transcends the natural order, and the bonds of brotherhood remain," during each visit and working trip abroad, Party and State leaders always take the time to meet with those living far from home, listen to and encourage them, promptly share, guide, and resolve immediate difficulties, thereby strengthening their faith and further consolidating national unity and fraternal bonds.
Within the country, many meaningful programs and activities for overseas Vietnamese are organized throughout the nation, from programs to commemorate the Hung Kings' Ancestral Anniversary, to summer camps for overseas Vietnamese youth traveling from the North, Central, and South, and charitable voyages taking overseas Vietnamese to visit and encourage our soldiers and people on the Truong Sa islands.
According to President Luong Cuong, the Vietnamese community abroad is increasingly integrating deeply, affirming its role and prestige in its host countries and continuing to contribute valuable resources to the country. Especially during difficult times, our compatriots across the globe turn their thoughts towards their homeland, strongly promoting the spirit of mutual support and compassion, sharing and providing timely assistance to our compatriots at home, especially in areas still facing difficulties and damage from storms and floods.
On behalf of the State of Vietnam and the entire nation, President Luong Cuong acknowledged, highly appreciated, and cherished the sentiments, responsibilities, and noble deeds of overseas Vietnamese towards their homeland, country, and compatriots at home.
President Luong Cuong emphasized that for the Vietnamese nation to develop and endure, many factors are involved, one of the most important being the unceasing flow of aspiration. Wherever there are Vietnamese people, there is aspiration to rise. The aspiration of Vietnam is the soul of the nation, a great spiritual driving force that has enabled our country to overcome all obstacles and stand firm, growing stronger as it is today.
Entering 2026, the first year of implementing the Resolution of the 14th National Congress of the Party, our country confidently steps into a new era of development. The entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army are determined to successfully implement the Resolution of the 14th National Congress of the Party and the National Development Strategy to 2030, with the aspiration for a Vietnam embodied in peace and prosperity. Peace for rapid and sustainable national development; prosperity for an increasingly comfortable and happy life for the people.
Great opportunities, great aspirations, and great responsibilities rest upon the shoulders of every Vietnamese person, those who carry the blood of the descendants of Lac and Hong, whether at home or abroad. The decisive strength to realize Vietnam's aspirations lies in the unity and solidarity of the Vietnamese people, as our beloved President Ho Chi Minh taught: "Unity, unity, great unity. Success, success, great success."
With that spirit, President Luong Cuong called on all Vietnamese people at home and abroad to continue to consolidate and promote the strength of national unity, working together with their intellect, resources, and dedication to contribute to the cause of building and protecting the Vietnamese Fatherland. Every contribution, whether large or small, is a precious brick in building a peaceful and prosperous Vietnam.

Before the artistic performance began, President Luong Cuong performed the ritual of beating the drum to inaugurate the Spring Festival.

The special art program comprises three chapters: The Returning Swallows; Hanoi - Faith and Hope; and Vietnam - Peace and Prosperity. Featuring songs and melodies expressing love for the homeland, such as "Continuing the Story of Peace," "What Could Be More Beautiful," and "Mother's Lullaby," the program serves as a bridge connecting roots and aspirations, uniting Vietnamese people worldwide, and fostering faith and national unity in the new era of national development.
