Spring knocks on the doors of new homes.
Returning to Suoi Hiep commune in the days leading up to the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, as smoke from cooking fires began to rise from the rooftops and the story of sending the Kitchen God to heaven echoed throughout the village, we couldn't help but feel moved by the transformation of this land, once the epicenter of floods in November 2025. Here, a peaceful rhythm of life is knocking on the doors of families who have settled into their homes, still smelling of fresh plaster.

| Mr. Nguyen Phuc Huy (from Dien Tho commune) and his grandchild are happily welcoming the upcoming Lunar New Year. |
In the Cu Thanh resettlement area, Mrs. Ngo Thi Nam's new house is bustling with the atmosphere of Tet (Lunar New Year). A sturdy canopy has been erected on the porch, and the fence and gate have just been completed. The rhythmic sound of brooms sweeping the yard mixes with the cheerful chatter of children running around the house. Inside, Mrs. Nam and her children are cleaning the altar and rearranging every corner in preparation for Tet. The historic flood swept away the land behind Mrs. Nam's old house by the river, while the debt for repairs after the 2017 storm was still unpaid. Immediately after the flood, her family, along with many other households in the landslide-affected area, were allocated resettlement land. When the "Quang Trung Campaign" was launched with the urgent involvement of the armed forces, in less than a month, many new houses, including Mrs. Nam's, were completed just in time for the New Year. "Without the help of the Party, the State, and the army, I don't know where my mother and I would have lived this Tet. The feast may be simple, but the fact that the whole family is reunited in our new home is enough," Mrs. Nam said, her voice choked with emotion.

| For Mrs. Nam (from Suoi Hiep commune), this Tet will be a peaceful and fulfilling one. |
In Nam Nha Trang ward, the new house of Ms. Le Thi Tuyet, built with support from the Command of Defense Zone 2 - Dien Khanh, is bustling with the atmosphere of Tet (Lunar New Year). In the days leading up to Tet, she and her son cleaned and rearranged their belongings, and hung up a pair of red couplets in front of the door. In the new kitchen, a New Year's Eve meal was meticulously prepared. For her, the house is not just a place to shelter from the rain and sun, but also a place of support to move forward after past losses. A dry kitchen to light a fire, a few new clothes for the children, some rice, some vegetables, a pair of banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) – that's all it takes for people in flood-affected areas to have a warm and heartwarming Tet.
Warm embraces of compassion
During these difficult times, the warmth of human kindness spread, warming every home in the areas devastated by the floods. At the end of January, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province announced a plan to allocate resources from the provincial relief fund to support people affected by natural disasters in 2025, with a total budget of over 214 billion VND. Accordingly, nearly 4,300 poor and near-poor households will receive 5 million VND/household; more than 96,000 other households affected by floods will receive 2 million VND/household. Along with this are a series of practical social welfare programs such as: providing "zero-cost" vegetables, stabilizing prices; supporting medicines, medical supplies, and vaccines; supplementing teaching equipment, and donating uniforms to students in damaged schools...

We arrived at the home of Mrs. Mau Thi Mai (Cam Hiep commune) when the whole family was busy cleaning and rearranging their small house to prepare for Tet (Lunar New Year). More than a month ago, this place still bore the marks of the devastating flood. But now, the house is neat and tidy, filled with laughter and cheerful conversation. Carefully arranging the Tet gifts, Mrs. Mai shared: "Thanks to the Party, the State, the Fatherland Front, and charitable organizations, people's lives are more stable. This Tet, my family feels much warmer."

Along with the support of Party committees and authorities at all levels, the community also joined hands through the coordinating role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province to provide assistance to people in flood-affected areas. Programs such as "Compassionate Tet," "Family Reunion Tet - Spring of Gratitude to the Party," and "Trade Union Tet Market"... brought the Tet atmosphere to every hamlet. Mr. Nguyen Chi Danh - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tay Nha Trang ward, said that with the desire to bring a warm and complete spring to the people, especially near-poor households and households affected by floods, the locality has implemented many practical activities. Accordingly, the "Spring of Solidarity - Tet of Compassion" program donated 125 gifts to near-poor households; the "Joining Hands for Vietnamese Tet, Connecting All Regions" program donated 250 gifts to people affected by floods. The locality also started the repair of 6 houses of compassion; and coordinated with the Provincial Red Cross and other units to organize many activities. Each program, each gift, is a message: People are not alone in their journey to overcome difficulties.
The fields are reviving after the flood.
These days, a bustling atmosphere of labor permeates the province's production areas. Spring is everywhere on the vegetable plots and rice fields. In My Son commune, where over 251 hectares of farmland were once flooded, resulting in total crop losses, new plants have now taken root and are lush green in the late-year sunshine. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cuong, from Phu Thuy village, shared: "The historic flood completely destroyed my family's melon and pumpkin fields, which were intended for the Tet market. Nearly 100 million VND was lost. Thanks to the support of the government and the commune, my family and I are determined to recover and start over."

In Cam An commune, where over 276 hectares of crops were swept away by floods, the fields are now lush and green. People are tending the plants, tying ropes, and watering. Rows of bitter melon, cucumbers, and other vegetables are thriving. Mr. Dang Ngoc Minh's family in Van Thuy 1 village lost 4 hectares of crops, suffering losses of over 300 million VND. Now, he is busy tending his vegetable fields, planning the harvest schedule to ensure a timely supply for the Tet market. "Starting over is very hard, but seeing the plants grow day by day makes me feel relieved; this Tet will be less stressful," Mr. Minh expressed.

Visiting Ninh Giang chrysanthemum village (Hoa Tri commune), we could clearly feel the presence of spring. The chrysanthemums bloomed beautifully in the morning sun. Flower growers busily tended to each pot of chrysanthemums to ensure timely delivery to traders who had placed orders. "Seeing the flowers selling well and traders buying them all, I'm so happy; all the hard work was worth it," said Mrs. Doan Thi Thu Nguyet excitedly.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuan, Head of the Crop Production and Plant Protection Sub-Department of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, said that the floods at the end of 2025 caused flooding in 57 communes and wards in the province, affecting approximately 19,000 hectares of crops; the estimated damage was 490 billion VND. Immediately after the floodwaters receded, the agricultural sector established 6 working groups to directly visit the affected localities to guide cooperatives, associations, and more than 1,500 farming households in promptly restoring nearly 2,000 hectares of crops. The fields are gradually reviving, the lights are just being turned on in the houses, and helping hands are providing support to the flood-affected people. Closing a year of many upheavals and hardships, a new spring full of hope is arriving everywhere...
Comrade TRAN PHONG - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee: The Quang Trung Campaign is a symbol of solidarity and brotherhood - the most beautiful qualities of the Vietnamese people, tested and shining brightly in adversity. When new houses gradually appear, when hearths are rekindled, it is not only the return of a home, but also the rekindling of faith for people to stand firm. Along with building and repairing houses for people in flood-affected areas, the province also mobilizes various resources to take care of the lives of families through practical actions, so that this spring will be warmer and more fulfilling, and no one will be left behind.
