Ý Nhi competes in the 72nd Miss World pageant.

Miss World Vietnam 2023 Huynh Tran Y Nhi expressed her happiness at being given the opportunity to participate in the 72nd Miss World competition.

On the evening of March 22nd, a representative from the organization holding the rights to send domestic contestants to Miss World stated that the selection of Ý Nhi was based on observation and recognition of her efforts.

"Following the controversy surrounding Ý Nhi's statements after her coronation, we have been closely following her growth and have noticed the changes. She now meets the criteria of a Miss World contestant," said Ms. Phạm Kim Dung, representative of Ý Nhi's management company.

The beauty queen currently lives and studies at the University of Sydney, Australia. According to her team, Ý Nhi will be participating in online training sessions and overseas courses to prepare for the competition. She lives independently, working part-time outside of her studies, mainly selling goods. This past Lunar New Year, the beauty queen celebrated the spring festival away from her family and friends for the first time.

The beauty queen's full name is Huynh Tran Y Nhi, and she hails from Binh Dinh province. She is 1.75 m tall, with measurements of 79-59-89 cm. She is currently a business administration student at the International University, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City.

After winning the crown, she participated in many interviews with the media; however, the audience reacted negatively to some of her tactless answers, which led her to issue an apology.

Miss World is one of the two largest beauty pageants in the world, alongside Miss Universe, first held in the UK in 1951. At the 71st edition in March, Miss World Karolina Bielawska crowned her successor, Krystyna Pyszková. The organizers have not yet announced the date and location for the 72nd competition. However, many countries such as India, Colombia, Malaysia, and Spain have announced their contestants and are dedicating time to preparation, especially for the humanitarian project – a crucial part of the competition.

In previous Miss World seasons, notable Vietnamese contestants include Lan Khuê (top 11), Đỗ Mỹ Linh (top 40), Lương Thùy Linh (top 12), Tiểu Vy (top 30), Đỗ Thị Hà (top 13), and most recently, Mai Phương (top 40).
