According to Marcel Desailly, a former teammate of Zidane's during the 1998 World Cup winning season, the former Real Madrid coach doesn't prioritize money and always chooses projects that offer long-term spiritual and strategic value.
After leaving Real Madrid in 2021, Zidane became one of the most sought-after names in the coaching world. Manchester United, amidst a crisis under Erik ten Hag, even made an official offer with one of the highest salaries in the world .
However, Zidane declined, partly because he wasn't confident in his English skills and partly because he didn't see a fit with the club's development direction.
