(Dan Tri Newspaper) - On the morning of February 7th, 25 free buses transported 1,200 workers employed in industrial zones in Hanoi back to their hometowns for Tet (Lunar New Year).
On the morning of February 7th, 1,200 workers employed in Hanoi's industrial zones and export processing zones returned to their hometowns for Tet (Lunar New Year) on 25 charitable buses organized by the Hanoi Trade Union.
From early morning, at the Thang Long Industrial Park Management Office (Dong Anh, Hanoi), a large number of workers, along with their relatives and young children, were present with their luggage and belongings, ready to return to their hometowns to celebrate the Lunar New Year . Free transportation will take workers and their families back to their hometowns in provinces such as Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh . Mr. Canh (a worker at Thang Long Industrial Park) hurriedly transported his belongings to the collection point to catch the bus. Mr. Canh said: "Before, booking transportation to go home for Tet was very difficult and expensive, and traveling with young children was also a hassle. Since the free bus service started, I find going home easier than ever." Many workers moved their belongings and luggage into the luggage compartment under the 45-seat passenger bus. Mr. Huu Duong (from Nghe An province) emotionally waved goodbye to his wife and children as they returned home on the free bus. Mr. Duong shared that since he still had his motorbike as a means of transportation, he let his wife and children go home first while he would travel back later on his motorbike. Mr. Mai Tien Dung, holding his daughter in his arms, excitedly shared that he was very happy to be on today's free bus. Previously, to return to his hometown, his family had to take a bus to Nuoc Ngam bus station, about 30km from their rented accommodation, and then buy additional bus tickets for four people, costing about 1.2 million VND, plus another 300,000 VND for food, which was very expensive. The total cost was almost double the cost of his family's monthly rent in Kim Chung (Dong Anh). Ms. Cao Thi Quyen (from Nghe An province, recently on maternity leave) was on the free bus ride home for Tet (Lunar New Year). Ms. Quyen shared: "My husband and I work in Bac Ninh , but our main office is in Dong Anh, so we were very lucky to successfully register for the free bus ride home. At 4 am, the whole family woke up to check our belongings and head to the meeting point. I'm very happy because buses like this save us a lot of travel expenses." Leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor were present at the farewell ceremony for workers returning home for the holidays, and also gave lucky money to the children of workers on over 25 buses.
Workers are excited on the free bus ride back to their hometowns for Tet (Lunar New Year). Leaders representing the departments of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the departments of the Hanoi City Party Committee, the City Party Committee Office, and the Hanoi City People's Committee Office waved goodbye to workers returning to their hometowns to celebrate Tet.
