On March 28, 3 leading Taiwanese universities came to Vietnam to connect with universities and colleges in Ho Chi Minh City, looking for candidates to study semiconductor programs.
Dr. Tran Hoa Hien, head of the education department (Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City), said this is a "special program for international industrial talent education" (INTENSE program).
The program was first implemented by Taiwan for students from three countries, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines, studying majors related to the semiconductor industry in Taiwan.
Recruitment targets are 3rd year students or have graduated from college or university. Minimum converted GPA requirement is 60/100 points. If choosing the Chinese program, students need a TOCFL A2 certificate or higher when enrolling, and for the English program from TOEIC 550 or higher.
The study period in Taiwan lasts 2 years. International students are exempted from 100% tuition for 2 years of study in Taiwan. In the 2nd year, they will have additional academic achievement conditions in the first year.
Students receive additional support for air tickets to Taiwan and free paperwork. In addition, international students are supported by semiconductor businesses in Taiwan with living expenses of NT$10.000, equivalent to about VND 7,7 million.
Graduates will receive a bachelor's or master's degree corresponding to the study program. You will work for businesses that have supported you for at least 2 years, most of which are businesses operating in the semiconductor field, then you can choose to stay in Taiwan to continue working or return to Vietnam.
Mr. Lieu Tin Duc, vice president of Minh Tan University of Science and Technology (Taiwan), said that Taiwanese semiconductor businesses are currently "thirsty" for high-quality human resources in the semiconductor industry, so they always want to Collaborate with universities to find potential students. The training program is also designed by semiconductor businesses with universities, according to their labor needs.
According to Mr. Lieu Tin Duc, international students receive maximum support when participating in the program. In addition to receiving scholarships and living expenses, students also receive free dormitory and paid internships while studying at school.
In the near future, after disseminating scholarships and receiving application documents, Taiwanese universities will come directly to Vietnam to interview and select candidates. In addition to the September 9 admission, the INTENSE program will also prepare for February 2024 admission.
