The section of the Gâm River passing through Na Hang district is included in the list of areas designated for protection corridors.

Of these, Chiêm Hóa district has the most sections of rivers and streams with 34 sections; Lâm Bình and Yên Sơn districts each have 27 sections; Sơn Dương district has 26 sections; the remainder are in Hàm Yên, Na Hang districts and Tuyên Quang city. The Department of Natural Resources and Environment - the state management agency for natural resources - has developed a plan to coordinate with districts and cities to implement the demarcation and establishment of protection corridors in accordance with the regulations of the Provincial People's Committee. Establishing water source protection corridors aims to maintain the stability of the river and stream system, while also contributing to preventing land encroachment and water pollution.
