Several groups of goods and services experienced significant increases, including medicines and medical services, which rose by 13.73% due to price adjustments under Circular No. 21/2024/TT-BYT; housing, electricity, water, fuel, and construction materials, which increased by 10.5% due to simultaneous increases in electricity prices, material prices, and rent; and food and catering services, which rose by 2.45%, mainly driven by the price increases of pork, seafood, and vegetables. In addition, other groups of goods and services, such as household appliances, clothing, beverages, and culture and tourism, saw slight increases.
Conversely, the CPI was kept under control thanks to a 3.83% decrease in the transportation group due to a nearly 10% drop in gasoline prices, and a 0.5% decrease in the education group thanks to tuition fee waivers and reductions at some public secondary schools.
Overall, price fluctuations in the first nine months of 2025 were primarily influenced by food prices, housing and utilities costs, and healthcare services, while fuel prices and educational support policies helped to limit the increase in the CPI.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Q3 2025 increased by 3.43% compared to Q3 2024. Some of the main reasons for the CPI increase include a 2.15% increase in the food and beverage group, a 12.37% increase in the housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials group, and a 9.14% increase in the medicine and medical services group...
In September 2025 alone, the CPI increased by 0.46% compared to the previous month. Overall, the CPI in September 2025 remained stable, with no significant fluctuations in the prices of essential goods.
