AFC confirms Vietnam team will play 2 matches with Nepal at home

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced that the Nepal team has chosen Thong Nhat Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City) as their home ground for the second leg match against the Vietnam team in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup. The match will take place on October 14, 2025.

Previously, in the first leg on October 9, 2025, the two teams will compete at Binh Duong Stadium. Thus, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will not have to travel to Nepal, but will play both matches in October right in Vietnam.

This is considered an advantage in terms of travel, thereby providing more time to recover physical strength and prepare professionally for the national team.

Looking ahead to the two important upcoming matches, the Vietnamese team just had a gathering during FIFA Days in September. Duy Manh and his teammates also played two friendly matches against the Hanoi Police and Nam Dinh clubs, with the results of 1 win and 1 loss.

The data from this training session is the basis for coach Kim Sang-sik and the coaching staff to plan for the two upcoming official matches, including personnel selection and tactical development.

Regarding the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup, after two matches, the Vietnamese team has 3 points (1 win, 1 loss) and is temporarily ranked second in Group F.

Two consecutive matches against Nepal will be important for the Vietnamese team in maintaining their hopes of competing for a ticket to the Asian Cup finals.
