Who will be the youngest new professor in 2024?

After several rounds of review, the State Council of Professors announced the list of 615 candidates who met the standards for the titles of professor and associate professor in 2024, coming from 27 disciplines and interdisciplinary fields. Of these, 45 are professor candidates and 570 are associate professor candidates.

Candidate Hoang Le Truong (born in 1984, from Giao Tien commune, Giao Thuy district, Nam Dinh province) has become the youngest new professor to meet the criteria for the professorship title this year. He was assessed for the professorship title in Mathematics and currently works at the Institute of Mathematics, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.

Professor Truong graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, specializing in Algebra and Number Theory, from the University of Science ( Hanoi ) in 2006; and received a Master's degree in Mathematics, specializing in Algebra and Number Theory, from Thai Nguyen University in 2009.

In 2013, he received his PhD in Mathematics from Meiji University, Japan. On January 15, 2020, he was recognized as an associate professor of Mathematics.

Mr. Hoang Le Truong has worked at the Institute of Mathematics, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology since 2006, initially as a research fellow, then as a principal researcher and later as a senior researcher.

In addition, he also served as a visiting lecturer at several higher education institutions such as the University of Technology (Hanoi); Thai Nguyen University of Education; and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST).

The main research areas of the youngest professor include: Commutative algebra, Computer algebra and its applications; Algebraic geometry and its applications.

To date, Mr. Hoang Le Truong has completed four ministerial-level scientific research projects as the project leader, including: "Irreducible Analysis: Structure and Applications", "Monomial and Binomial Ideals: Combinations, Singular Geometry and Applications", "Computer-Assisted Proofs: Some Invariants of Manifolds and Some Problems on Rational Units", and "On the Classification of Algebraic Manifolds". He has also published one monograph and one textbook.

Mr. Hoang Le Truong has 30 scientific articles published in prestigious international journals, 18 of which are in Q1 journals.

Previously, in 2023, the three youngest people recognized as professors, all born in 1984 (39 years old at the time of recognition), were: Tran Xuan Bach, professor of Medicine; Nguyen Dai Hai, professor of Chemistry; and Doan Thai Son, professor of Mathematics.
