Officially recognized 71 professors, 829 associate professors in 2025

On the morning of November 19, the State Council of Professors officially recognized 900 teachers as meeting the standards for the title of professor and associate professor in 2025, as per the previously announced list.

Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , Associate Professor Dr. Tran Anh Tuan - Chief of Office of the State Council of Professors - said that this morning, November 19, the Chairman of the State Council of Professors has just signed a decision to recognize the qualifications for the title of professor and associate professor in 2025 for 900 candidates, including 71 professors and 829 associate professors.

There are 900 new professors and associate professors

Compared to the list of candidates meeting the standards of professor and associate professor in 2025 announced after the 4th meeting of the State Council of Professors, term 2024 - 2029 (held on November 2), the number of officially recognized candidates has not changed.

Thus, compared to 2024, the number of candidates officially recognized as meeting the standards of professors and associate professors has increased sharply. Last year, 614 candidates were recognized as meeting the title standards, including 45 professors and 569 associate professors.

According to a report from the Office of the State Council of Professors, in 2025, there were 1,073 candidates applying, including 100 professor candidates and 973 associate professor candidates, at 117 basic councils.

After rounds of document assessment, foreign language assessment and general scientific report, 1,014 candidates (93 professor candidates, 921 associate professor candidates) were recommended to be considered at the industry and interdisciplinary levels.

28 industry and interdisciplinary professor councils then selected and recommended 911 candidates (73 professors, 838 associate professors) to submit to the State Council of Professors for consideration and recognition.

After reviewing, verifying evidence and publicly discussing each profile, the State Council of Professors conducted a vote. As a result, 900 candidates received the required number of votes of confidence, including 71 professors and 829 associate professors (including candidates from the Council of Professors of Security Science and the Council of Professors of Military Science).

The pass rate compared to the total number of initial applicants was 83.88%, of which the pass rate for professor candidates was 71%, and for associate professor candidates was 85.2%.

Thus, there are 11 candidates (2 professor candidates, 9 associate professor candidates) who were not approved by the State Council of Professors in this year's professor and associate professor examination.

The youngest new associate professor is 33 years old, the youngest new professor is 39 years old

This is the year with the highest number of candidates recognized as meeting the standards of professor and associate professor since 2019, when the review standards were upgraded according to Decision 38 of 2018 of the Prime Minister.

The two fields with the largest number of candidates being considered by the State Council of Professors for the title of professor and associate professor this year are economics (134 people) and medicine (114 people). Medicine is also the field with the most candidates recognized as professors with 14 people.

Also according to the Office of the State Council of Professors, this year the quality of candidates in 2025 is quite good, foreign language proficiency has improved a lot, and all candidates have guaranteed to have enough scientific research works published in international journals listed in ISI, Scopus or other prestigious journals.

The youngest new professor this year is Mr. Tran Quoc Trung (born March 26, 1986, 39 years old), from Duy Xuyen, former Quang Nam province. Mr. Trung is currently the Deputy Director of Campus II of Foreign Trade University in Ho Chi Minh City.

The two youngest new associate professors, both born in 1992 (33 years old), are Ms. Nguyen Ha Thanh - senior researcher at the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department - Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (born December 15, 1992, candidate for associate professor of chemistry) and Mr. Do Quang Loc - lecturer at the University of Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (born November 7, 1992, candidate for associate professor of physics).
