On the evening of November 19, the Vietnamese team defeated Laos 2-0 in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup at the Laos National Stadium. Two goals were scored in the second half by Xuan Son (11m) and Pham Tuan Hai.
Commenting on the match, expert Phan Anh Tu said: "After failing to score in the first half, the Vietnamese team scored in the second half to win. This is a scenario that Mr. Kim Sang Sik really enjoys, and he always operates in that way."
Mr. Tu analyzed: "In the first half, the Vietnamese team controlled the ball well, circulated the ball well, making Laos struggle. We had many clear opportunities to score, but the chronic problem of the Vietnamese team is scoring efficiency.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kim Sang Sik's trump cards on the field are very thick and high quality. So when he plays his trump cards and meets an opponent who is already out of shape, he plays very well.
Pham Tuan Hai's ability to run and accelerate is excellent. He runs well and has very good speed. Tuan Hai's strength helped the Vietnamese team get a penalty.
He even saved the Vietnamese team from a clear loss when the opponent was face to face with goalkeeper Van Lam. He ran behind but still managed to jump up to tackle.

Besides Tuan Hai, Xuan Son is also another valuable trump card. Returning after a long time off due to injury, although not yet at his best, Xuan Son's ability to cover and keep the ball is still very good.
His running is also smart, creating space for other players. In other words, when Xuan Son enters the field, midfielders like to play more when there is a player up front who can receive the ball and break away."
Evaluating Xuan Son's goal in his first match back from injury, expert Phan Anh Tu said it was important for the Brazilian player himself, as well as for Vietnamese football.
Mr. Tu said: "After only 10 months of returning, psychological work is very important. Obviously, letting him compete in an official match, with a moderate opponent like Laos so that he can fully approach and gain confidence is very good.
Besides, the goal is a great encouragement for Xuan Son. Vietnamese audiences are also very excited and looking forward to Xuan Son entering the field. This creates a good mentality for him to approach the next match as more and more difficult and return to his previous form."
Expert Phan Anh Tu also praised the progress of the Laos team under coach Ha Hyeok Jun (South Korea).
He said: "When defending, they play a very tight 5-4-1, with good team distance and good cover for each other. When counter-attacking, they don't pass the ball randomly but with intention and pass the ball accurately."
"Lao players are very confident when coordinating with each other. Besides, there are many Lao players who boldly break through 1 on 1 against the stars in the Vietnamese team's defense such as Duy Manh and Bui Tien Dung.
Laos' counter-attacks, if goalkeeper Van Lam does not come out well and read the game well, will be very dangerous. So we must commend the Laos team," he added.
Expert Phan Anh Tu said: Our domestic players are very unsophisticated. Their kicks often miss the ball, they just graze the cheek or miss, the ball doesn't have enough force.
The ball needs to be delicate, needs to be shot into the corner, low shots are always shot high with pursed lips. That is one of the chronic problems of the team that needs to be overcome, must be fixed.
