Xuan Son brings joy to the Vietnamese team
Obviously, the biggest highlight of the match in Laos was Xuan Son's return to the Vietnam team after 318 days of absence due to injury. The Brazilian striker immediately left his mark by making life difficult for the Lao defenders and creating a lot of space for his teammates.
Even in the 68th minute, Xuan Son directly scored with a decisive 11m kick to open the score. The way he was able to strongly press the Lao defenders was truly different, helping him become a reliable destination to receive direct passes into the middle and act as a wall for the surrounding satellites.
Congratulations on the return of Xuan Son. Of course, a little hesitation and caution can still be seen in his steps. But the way he kissed his feet after scoring a goal shows a strong mentality, not afraid, not haunted by the injury that kept him away from the field for 10 months.
Vietnam team needs to practice more in the middle

In the first half, the Vietnamese team did not use any real defenders, but instead deployed the attacking trio Tien Linh - Van Vi - Quang Hai, supported by Thanh Long - Hoang Duc in the middle of the field. We controlled the ball well, with many notable attacks in the middle with few touches.
In fact, if the strikers had been calmer, we could have scored after half a dozen chances. In the second half, Mr. Kim used an even more "terrifying" attack with Xuan Son, Tuan Hai, Gia Hung, Hai Long, Quang Hai, Hoang Duc.
This is a new feature compared to the familiar style of wearing down opponents and long balls of coach Kim Sang-sik. With Xuan Son's ability to press the ball well, the Vietnamese team can still play well the central attacking style with few touches combined with cutting down the wing to break down crowded defenses.
Leader Duy Manh

Duy Manh had an excellent day of competition.

On the day the Vietnamese team played almost exclusively on the Laos team’s half, captain Duy Manh still demonstrated his superior playing style. In addition to his clever and effective tackling, he also showed impressive leadership skills.
Especially when some defensive positions like Quang Vinh, Xuan Manh... sometimes lost focus and got startled, Duy Manh always kept his concentration to remind or directly cut off the opponent's quick counterattacks.
We would not dare to imagine what the scenario would be like if Vietnam team was penetrated by Laos first (they actually had chances) or if the match ended 1-1. However, we were lucky that captain Duy Manh spoke up at the right time to help Van Lam have a day of keeping the net safe.
Keep it up Tuan Hai!

It is not easy to watch a match from the bench, especially for someone with a strong desire to compete like Tuan Hai. But the way he "reacted" was amazing, with his brave sprints when he entered the field in the second half.
Tuan Hai really made a difference on the left wing. After his shot hit the crossbar, he won a penalty to help Xuan Son open the score. Then came a move that is extremely memorable for every striker: a bicycle kick to score the winning goal at the end of the match, 2-0.
Tuan Hai was not in the main squad of the Vietnamese team for most of the AFF Cup 2024. But then he convinced coach Kim Sang-sik and became the hero in the final match, bringing the championship to the Vietnamese team.
That fighting spirit and efficiency are very necessary for the Vietnamese team when Van Vi is showing signs of being caught in the left forward position. Above all, we really need Tuan Hai's desire for the match against Malaysia in March 2026 and further goals.
