1. The last match of the Vietnamese team in 2025 are expected to improve compared to what they have shown before. This belief is well-founded because Laos is of course not an equal opponent to coach Kim Sang Sik and his team. At the same time, the reigning Southeast Asian champions have the return of Xuan Son, the region's top striker after 10 months of injury.

Those expectations were further fueled when the Vietnamese team entered the match with a rather confident mindset and created excitement for the fans with attacks through direct attacks, along with quick one-two touch combinations, bringing a quite different appearance compared to what had been seen.

However, the efficiency and coherence in the gameplay were not high, because some positions played below their ability. This was partly explained by the poor pitch and the determination of the home team.

But, that is certainly a reason that can hardly adequately justify the fact that the Vietnamese team once again failed to score during the first 45 minutes.

2. Fans seem to have gotten used to Vietnam struggling to score in the first half under coach Kim Sang Sik. But the biggest problem in this match was not the lack of goals, but the poor scoring performance of the strikers.

Tien Linh missed the best chances when the home team needed a goal to relieve the pressure. Of course, the coherence in the play of the Vietnamese team was low. After a few interesting plays, the rest of the first half was a stalemate in front of the "bus" set up by Laos in front of the goal.

If the Laos team hadn't lost strength (an eternal weakness) from about minute 60 onwards, things might have been more difficult for the Vietnamese team instead of having 2 goals from Xuan Son and Tuan Hai at the end of the match.

3. Basically, the Vietnamese team has completed the minimum goal of winning all 3 points. But in terms of playing style, the performance of many positions on the field is not really good.

So the victory over Laos only brought a few satisfactions: points and the smooth return of Xuan Son. Photo: Hai Hoang

The Vietnamese team still missed good opportunities and the deadlock in operations and attack plans made fans feel unsatisfied.

However, the hard-won victory also had some happy details, such as Xuan Son officially returning after injury or Tuan Hai somewhat finding himself after a period of disappearance.

These small joys are things that need to be kept, but to truly win over fans, coach Kim Sang and his team need to change a lot to make future victories more complete.
