Phu Sa Phin peak in Ta Xua range, Hanh Phuc commune ( Son La province) on the morning of November 19 was suddenly covered with a layer of ice.
Mr. Phang A Ga (32 years old) is a Mong ethnic person living in the area, working as a tour guide taking trekking groups (hiking in complex terrain) to the top of Ta Xua. While going down the mountain, his group encountered this scene.

Mr. Ga said that the group of 9 tourists were on a 2-day-1-night journey to conquer Ta Xua peak. On the way back, the group felt the air was colder than usual.
He felt a dry nose and a headache. Looking at the temperature on his phone, it showed 0 degrees Celsius. With many years of experience in the profession, Mr. Ga knew that the area below might be covered in ice.
"A thick, white layer of ice covered the tree branches and blades of grass. This year the frost appeared early, which surprised me. Normally, this phenomenon only happens around January or February," said Mr. Ga.

Ms. Binh Phuong, a tourist in the group from Hanoi , was surprised and lucky to witness the frost appearing in mid-November. On this trip to Ta Xua, she and her group of friends only intended to experience and hunt clouds, not thinking they would see frost so early.
"The forest appeared before our eyes with icy strips like in a fairy tale. The cold wind made us shiver but we found the trip was worth it," said the guest.
The group only spent a short time taking pictures and then quickly moved on. Ms. Binh Phuong said that at around 9am on November 19, the ice layer began to melt.
Mr. Ga said that with the current weather conditions, there may be more frost in Ta Xua on the morning of November 20. He also advised the next groups to prepare carefully in terms of warm clothes, gloves, thermal jackets, and woolen hats to ensure their health and safety.

Besides, Ta Xua these days in the early morning often has a lot of fog making the pass slippery, potentially dangerous. Tourists need to be careful when moving.
The northern region is currently affected by cold air with a sharp drop in temperature. Some other areas such as Ngu Chi Son peak in Lai Chau experienced thick frost on November 19.
Previously, on November 17, Mr. Nguyen Van Huong, Head of Weather Forecast Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, commented that the cold air mass affecting the North and Central regions has the strongest intensity since the beginning of winter.
It is forecasted that in this cold air mass, the mountainous and midland areas of the North are likely to experience frost.
Phu Sa Phin Peak is located in Ta Xua range with a height of 2,868m, is one of the peaks that trekking enthusiasts especially love to explore and conquer.
In recent years, the journey to conquer Ta Xua has received special attention from trekking enthusiasts. The discovery tour lasts 2 days and 1 night with shuttle bus from Hanoi, priced from 3 million VND/person.
Before participating, visitors need to ensure their health and physical strength. Starting from the foot of the mountain, visitors take a motorbike taxi for about 3km and then start climbing 9km to the rest stop. At 4am the next morning, the journey will continue to move to the top of the mountain.
If the weather is not favorable, with a lot of fog, the group will depart around 7am, taking about 2.5 hours to reach the top. The return trip will take almost the whole day. It is expected that the group will reach the foot of the mountain at 4-5pm.
