Regional media praises Xuan Son's 'extraordinary comeback'

On the evening of November 19, striker Nguyen Xuan Son made an impressive return to the national team, scoring the opening goal to help Vietnam beat Laos 2-0 in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.

Regional media highly appreciated Nguyen Xuan Son's return journey, after he suffered a broken leg on January 5, in the match against Thailand in the ASEAN Cup.

"This is a spectacular comeback by Xuan Son. He was out of action for 10 months, and scored on the day he returned," Thairath newspaper praised the Brazilian-born Vietnamese striker.

Siam Sports also reported on Vietnam's victory over Laos, and said that Xuan Son's return and scoring was the most joyful thing for Vietnamese football.

Experts had predicted that Xuan Son might have to rest for the rest of the year after suffering a serious leg fracture in January. Regional media therefore expressed admiration for Xuan Son's recovery journey.

"Xuan Son's impressive comeback helped Vietnam beat Laos without much effort. He suffered a very serious injury, and now he is back," Indonesia's Tribun News also praised Xuan Son.

On football forums and social networking sites, Nguyen Xuan Son received congratulations from many football fans in the region.

"It's great to see him back. Xuan Son is a super player, and I want Thailand to face Vietnam with him on the field," a Thai fan commented.
