Having qualified from the Central Coastal region, the Da Nang University of Sports and Physical Education team had to travel a long distance to Ho Chi Minh City to compete in the 2025 THACO Cup Finals. Despite playing away from home, Coach Tran Trung Kien and his team didn't feel alone. Many people from Quang Nam province living and working in Ho Chi Minh City, especially former students of the Da Nang University of Sports and Physical Education, made the effort to travel to Ton Duc Thang University's stadium to cheer on their younger teammates.

The Da Nang University of Sports team secured a narrow victory in their opening match.

On the opening day of the 2025 THACO University of Physical Education and Sports Finals, the Da Nang University of Physical Education and Sports team played a courageous match. Despite playing with ten men from the end of the first half, the Central Vietnam representatives fought tenaciously to defend their lead and secure a 1-0 victory against the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology - Vietnam National University. The three points in their opening match give the Da Nang University of Physical Education and Sports a significant advantage in the race for a place in the quarterfinals. After the match, the first thing Coach Tran Trung Kien wanted to share was his gratitude to the fans. "Our team overcame difficulties, not only through the players' best efforts, but also thanks to the encouragement of the spectators in the stands, including former students of the Da Nang University of Physical Education and Sports," Mr. Kien stated.

After the match, fan Vo Ngoc Cang couldn't hide his joy and immediately went down to the field to shake hands and congratulate all the members of the Da Nang University of Sports and Physical Education team. Mr. Cang also gave the team representative 2 million VND to "support the team with drinks" for the student players during training and matches. It is known that he is a former student of Da Nang University of Sports and Physical Education and currently works as a teacher at a primary school in Thu Duc City. "I always closely follow the information about the Da Nang University of Sports and Physical Education team at the THACO Student Sports and Physical Education Cup 2025. When the team plays, I try to arrange my schedule to come and cheer them on. I want to contribute a little to encourage the team's morale. Seeing the players' enthusiasm on the field reminds me of myself many years ago. I hope the team will continue to play with passion, beauty, and fair play to advance further in the tournament," Mr. Cang said, adding that he will mobilize more former students to cheer them on and continue to provide gifts for the younger generation.

Touched by the sincerity of the former students, Head Coach Tran Trung Kien said: "When we have to compete far from home, we truly cherish the affection of our fellow countrymen, especially those who once studied at Da Nang University of Sports and Physical Education. The cash prizes here are not only meaningful in terms of material value, but more importantly, they are a great source of encouragement for the team, showing the special care that the former students have for their alma mater. It's truly heartwarming to see such pure affection. Besides that, I also feel proud that Da Nang University of Sports and Physical Education has trained such students. Although we don't prioritize results, we will compete with high determination to live up to the expectations of our fans."
