Amazon Web Services will invest billions of dollars in Malaysia.

DNVN - Amazon Web Services (AWS) has officially launched the AWS Asia-Pacific Region in Malaysia, giving developers, startups, entrepreneurs, government organizations, and others more options to run applications and serve end users.

As part of its long-term commitment, AWS plans to invest approximately $6.2 billion (equivalent to MYR 29.2 billion) in Malaysia by 2038.

The construction and operation of the new AWS Region is estimated to contribute approximately US$12.1 billion (MYR 57.3 billion) to Malaysia's gross domestic product (GDP) and will support an average of over 3,500 full-time jobs annually across various businesses between now and 2038. These jobs, including construction, facility maintenance, engineering, telecommunications, and other roles within the country's broader economy , will be part of the AWS supply chain in Malaysia.

AWS is continuously increasing its investment in Malaysia.

Malaysia's Minister for Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), Tengku Zafrul, stated: “The launch of the AWS Region in Malaysia brings Malaysian organizations and businesses of all sizes access to new and emerging technologies, boosting our country’s digital innovation capabilities. This is a significant step toward realizing the vision in Malaysia’s new Industrial Master Plan 2030 to build a highly developed, innovative, prosperous, inclusive and sustainable economy.”

“The new AWS Region in Malaysia enables organizations in the Asia Pacific region to fully leverage the potential of the world’s largest and most trusted cloud platform, helping customers deploy cutting-edge applications with a range of AWS technologies such as AI and ML. Malaysia’s rapidly growing digital economy demands access to secure, flexible, and sustainable cloud infrastructure.” Prasad Kalyanaraman, Vice President of Infrastructure Services at AWS, said: “The new AWS Region in Malaysia allows organizations in the Asia Pacific region to fully utilize the potential of the world ’s largest and most trusted cloud platform, enabling customers to deploy cutting-edge applications with a variety of AWS technologies such as AI and ML. Malaysia’s rapidly growing digital economy demands access to secure, flexible, and sustainable cloud infrastructure.”

Following the launch of the AWS Asia-Pacific Region (Malaysia), AWS now has 108 Availability Zones across 34 geographic regions and has announced plans to launch an additional 18 Availability Zones and 6 AWS Regions in Mexico, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Thailand, and the AWS European Sovereign Cloud. Each Availability Zone has independent power, cooling, and physical security, connected via redundant networks with ultra-low latency. AWS customers prioritizing high availability can design their applications to run across multiple Availability Zones for greater fault tolerance.

AWS offers the most diverse and professional portfolio of services on the market, including analytics, computing, databases, IoT, AI generation, mobile services, storage, and many other cloud technologies.
