The family of Mr. Giàng A Sông, from Tà Han village, was one of the households that had to be urgently relocated due to the serious risk of landslides. At that time, the entire family, along with many other households, had to live in makeshift shelters, facing inadequate living conditions and prolonged anxiety every rainy season. Since moving to the resettlement area with a sturdy and safe house, the family's life has gradually stabilized.

The appearance of Ta Han village today has undergone many noticeable changes. The houses are built uniformly, clean, and tidy; electricity and water supply are guaranteed; and internal village roads are more convenient for daily life and production.

It is noteworthy that poverty reduction efforts have been remarkably effective in the Ta Han Resettlement Area. At the time of relocation (in 2025), all 25 households were classified as poor. After one year, 22 out of 25 households had escaped poverty, with the family of Mr. Giang A Tru being a prime example, as they proactively applied to be removed from the list of poor households.

Mr. Tru shared: "Now that we have a new, secure house, convenient transportation, and sufficient electricity and water, my family feels more at ease and has confidently invested in livestock farming and production. Seeing that our lives have become relatively stable, I voluntarily wrote a letter requesting to be removed from the poverty list so that the policy can be given to households that are still more disadvantaged."

Just over a year ago, the former living area of 25 households in Ta Han village was at very high risk of landslides, forcing all residents to relocate urgently to ensure their safety.

In response to this situation, the Ministry of National Defense decided to provide nearly 29 billion VND to invest in the construction of a new resettlement area for the people of Ta Han village. The project was implemented with urgency and determination. Hundreds of officers and soldiers, along with local authorities and residents, participated in the construction, completing and handing over the houses just before the Lunar New Year of 2025.

Mr. Vu A Ngai, Head of Ta Han village, said: "The construction of the resettlement area received great attention from all levels and sectors, and especially from the Army. Officers and soldiers directly participated in transporting materials, building houses, leveling the ground, and constructing roads. Thanks to this, the people soon had new homes to stabilize their lives and no longer had to worry every time storms came."

The resettlement area is well-planned, comprising a system of sturdy houses and essential infrastructure, meeting safety requirements and suitable for the living conditions and customs of the Hmong people. Each household has stable residential land and adjacent production land, creating favorable conditions for economic development and improved living standards.

After the people settled into their new homes, the local government continued to support them in developing their livelihoods. Programs supporting livestock farming, crop cultivation, preferential loans, and production technique training were implemented comprehensively, helping people gradually increase their income and achieve sustainable poverty reduction.

Mr. Hoang Duc Trung Thien, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Cuong commune, said: "The completion and commissioning of the Ta Han resettlement area not only fundamentally solves the problem of residential safety against landslide risks, but also creates an important foundation for people to stabilize their livelihoods and rise out of poverty sustainably. The commune has determined that, after arranging safe housing, the main task is to support production development, capital, technology, and the transformation of suitable livelihood models, ensuring that people truly settle down in their new homes."
