Apple could launch its first foldable iPhone as early as 2026.

According to CultofMac, Apple could launch its first foldable iPhone as early as 2026. This is seen as a strategic move given the slowdown in sales of traditional iPhones.

In addition, Apple also faces increasingly fierce competition from other brands, especially those that have been pioneers in the foldable phone segment such as Samsung, Huawei, and Oppo.

While Samsung has established itself as the market leader in foldable phones, numerous other manufacturers such as Oppo, Xiaomi, Vivo, and Huawei have quickly joined the race, continuously introducing new products with increasingly advanced technology. In this context, Apple has yet to officially launch a foldable iPhone, leading many to worry that the company is falling behind.

However, according to MacRumors, Apple has now entered the final stages of selecting component suppliers for its first foldable iPhone. This suggests the company is gradually finalizing its product development plan, preparing for direct competition with its rivals.

Reports also reveal that Apple sets extremely stringent technical requirements for potential component suppliers. The company focuses not only on device thickness and size but also places particular emphasis on the durability and wrinkle resistance of the screen, aiming to provide the best possible user experience.

To date, Apple has not yet made a final decision on its component suppliers for its first foldable iPhone model. According to internal sources, the selection process could begin as early as the end of February and as late as the beginning of April. This suggests that Apple is being cautious in ensuring product quality before officially entering the foldable phone market.

Initial leaks suggest that Apple's foldable iPhone model will likely have a clamshell design, similar to Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip. According to 9to5Mac, when fully unfolded, the device will be similar in size to current iPhone models, offering a familiar user experience while also improving versatility thanks to its foldable design.

In fact, the idea of a foldable iPhone has been discussed by CEO Tim Cook with Apple's engineers and designers since 2018. However, to date, the company is still considering many important factors, including technical challenges and the potentially very high price of the product. This is also one of the reasons why Apple is not rushing into the foldable phone market but is continuing to research and perfect the technology to ensure the best possible user experience.
