Rap Viet episode 7, season 3, exploded with the competition among the contestants from Coach Andree's team.
Strange H surpasses Dlow
Opening episode 7 of season 3 of Rap Viet was the performance of the duo Dlow and Strange H. Coach Andree stated that he chose them because both have strengths in flow (melody) and will complement each other's energy.
With the theme of dreams about money, the duo's performance of "Money Dream" made MC Tran Thanh exclaim in admiration and immediately rap a line for the audience.
Coach B Ray commented: "I really like the hook (chorus) of your song, it makes me want to dance along…".
Judge Suboi also gave glowing praise: "Dlow's voice today was so clear and beautiful, making the atmosphere in the studio so explosive. With Strange H, I hope after this performance you'll have a lot of success..."
After the performance, Dlow received 78 points and Strange H 22 points. Ultimately, all three judges decided that Strange H would advance to the next round due to his significant improvement in skills.
Rhyder was the contestant chosen by coach Andree to advance.
Meanwhile, the Rhyder-Dubbie matchup also delivered an impressive performance.
Coach Andree shared that the appearance of the two contestants in his team reminded him of spoiled rich kids. Rhyder came up with a novel idea by changing the rhyming scheme to a theme song titled "Spoiled Boy, Spoiled Girl."
Delivering a love R&B rap with a catchy melody, Rhyder and Dubbie impressed coach BigDaddy, who immediately shared his thoughts: "Andree gave Dubbie a perfect space to showcase his part. Andree emphasized that he could both rap and perform melodically, and the overall combination with Rhyder was very harmonious!"
In the studio audience poll, Rhyder received 83 votes and Dubbie 17 votes.
After deliberation, the three judges decided that Rhyder was the one who commanded the stage and whose performance structure delivered a bright energy that matched the theme's color to advance to the breakthrough round.
Minh Lai and Shorty Thang received rave reviews.
In Rap Viet episode 7, season 3, Shorty Thang was chosen by Andree to partner with Minh Lai on the theme "Tomorrow will be better than today".
Minh Lai and Shorty Thang presented the performance "Tomorrow Will Be Better Than Today," which is about life but with a positive tone.
Combining their performance of "Nay mai" (Tomorrow), this pair's performance received high praise from coach Thai VG: "Up to this point, this is my favorite song. I really enjoyed this performance; the guitar accompaniment was very effective."
The performance earned Minh Lai 68 votes and Shorty Thang 32 votes.
At the last minute, judge Suboi shared: "Hopefully, this contestant will make even more progress in the next round," along with the decision to let Minh Lai advance.
The theme "Avoid" was the challenge set by coach Andree for the final match between SMO and Richie D. ICY, along with the requirement that the rap song be positive and "must become a hit."
Andree's intention in pairing the SMO brothers and Richie D. ICY for this performance was to "avoid" all the musical styles he had played before and push his own boundaries.
The duo SMO and Richie D. ICY set the stage on fire with their energetic, party-loving performance.
Commenting on the two contestants' performances, judge JustaTee said: "Andree is lucky to have these two, who are both cool and have a touch of humor. Besides being cool, we also need to bring flowers to the world, right? These flowers are what Andree is still lacking. Thank you to the program for bringing you two to Andree."
Coach B Ray expressed: "I really liked this performance, it's my favorite so far...".
The audience votes for the duo were quite close, with 52 votes for SMO and 48 votes for Richie D. ICY.
The judges decided that SMO would advance to the next round, with Richie D. ICY competing in the 8-bar battle (rescue round).
Dlow was rescued.
Coach Andree chose the theme "Letter to an Anti-Fan" for the 8-bar battle for contestants Dlow, Richie D. ICY, Dubbie, and Shorty Thang.
With the messages they conveyed in their rap performances, all four contestants successfully showcased their abilities, earning effusive praise from the judges and coaches.
Dlow was given the golden hat by coach B Ray in the 8-bar match.
Coach Andree faced a very difficult decision when he had to choose who would continue with his team. Ultimately, he chose Richie D. ICY.
Coach B Ray stepped onto the stage with the golden hat of power and presented it to Dlow, much to Andree's gratitude.
Sharing the reason for giving the golden hat, Coach B Ray said: "Actually, I really like Dlow, I like the crazy way he flows. I've liked him since he was Karik's student, and today I saw that he wasn't being used effectively. When he joins my team, I will help him improve."
