Three children died while swimming in the sea

Thanh Hoa: While swimming at the beach in Hai Ninh commune, Nghi Son town with his grandfather, three children aged 11-14 were swept away and died by the waves.

On the afternoon of June 11, Mr. Mai Viet Tu (62 years old, Thanh Thuy commune, Nghi Son town) used a motorbike to take his four grandchildren to the beach of Hai Ninh commune to swim. At around 3:00 p.m., Mr. Tu took the youngest child to the shore so that the other three children could play in the sea.

A moment later, when he returned, all three children, including two siblings Vu Thi Anh Duong, 14 years old, Vu Quoc Uy, 12 years old, and Hoang Mai Tuong Vi, 11 years old, had been swept away by the waves.

Local authorities mobilized border guards, police and militia to search for many hours. In the early evening, the children's bodies were found more than 500 meters from the accident site. "The waves were not big this afternoon, but it is possible that the children went far from shore and were swept away by the water," said Mr. Le Dinh Phuong, Chairman of Hai Ninh Ward.

The victim's body has been handed over to his family for burial.
