On the evening of September 8th, some roads in Nhon Trach district were flooded with strong currents during heavy rain, reaching more than half the height of car wheels, affecting the lives of local residents.

A heavy downpour lasting over two hours hit Nhon Trach and Long Thanh districts, submerging many roads and residential areas. The heavy rain coincided with the end of the workday for factory workers, causing localized traffic jams. Some residents waded through the water, pushing their vehicles home.
Roads such as Hung Vuong and Ly Thai To were heavily flooded, with water levels exceeding half the height of a car wheel in many places, causing numerous vehicles to break down. At the "epicenter of flooding" at the Lo Ren intersection in Long Tho commune (Nhon Trach district), the water was over 50 cm deep, causing cars to stall and forcing drivers to wait for rescue vehicles. Many residential areas in the region were also flooded, causing damage to property.
In recent years, due to rapid urbanization in Nhon Trach, the drainage system has been unable to cope with the volume of rainwater, leading to frequent localized flooding. In early June, a heavy downpour lasting several hours caused severe flooding in many streets and residential areas throughout the district. A wall at Nhon Trach 3 Industrial Park collapsed, creating a flash flood that swept away property in Hiep Phuoc town and damaged roads and public infrastructure.
According to the People's Committee of Dong Nai province, there are currently 39 urban flood-prone areas in the province, mainly concentrated in Bien Hoa City, Long Khanh City, and the districts of Trang Bom and Long Thanh. To address the flooding situation, in addition to many component projects, the province is planning to invest in a comprehensive main drainage system for all major urban areas.
Heavy rain also caused flooding on many roads in Binh Tan district and National Highway 1 (Ho Chi Minh City), making it difficult for people to travel. Water levels reached nearly half the height of car wheels in some places on Ho Ngoc Lam Street and Provincial Road 1, causing many vehicles to break down.

The Tan Tao underpass was flooded with nearly 30 cm of water, disrupting traffic and forcing many workers from Pouyuen company to find alternative routes or wait for the water to recede. In May, the nearly 40-meter-long underpass beneath National Highway 1 was also flooded because the drainage ditches were clogged with trash and plastic bags.
According to the Southern Vietnam Meteorological and Hydrological Station, the tropical convergence zone operating over the East Sea, combined with southwest winds, has caused heavy rain in Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces. Rainfall amounts generally ranged from 20-40 mm. The forecast indicates continued thunderstorms in the area tomorrow evening.
