National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the sentiments and personal sacrifices of Mr. and Mrs. Jacques Savary in terms of time, health and money to support the health sector and the city's people in the past years.
Mr. Jacques Savary expressed his emotion when meeting the National Assembly Chairman and his wife again; the two sides recalled the memories and feelings of the leaders and people of Can Tho when he worked in Vietnam many years ago and the memories when the National Assembly Chairman and the delegation of Can Tho city officials stayed at his family's house when they went to Switzerland to exchange experiences.
Mr. Jacques Savary also said: later when he returned to Switzerland, the Vietnamese Embassy in Switzerland, Vietnamese friends from Can Tho, when they had the opportunity to go to Switzerland, all visited and gave him and his wife their warm feelings; and affirmed that this affection cannot be measured.

With their love for Vietnam, they have supported Can Tho a lot in poverty reduction work, calling on organizations to help Can Tho medical facilities.
The fact that the National Assembly Chairman met Mr. Jacques Savary again after 24 years is proof of the strong bond and friendship between the two sides, contributing to deepening the Vietnam-Switzerland friendship...
Mr. Jacques and his wife are considered typical of two ordinary people from Switzerland who have left a deep impression in the hearts of Can Tho medical staff and people in the Mekong Delta.
In 1995, together with a group of doctors and nurses from the Vietnam Medical Aids (VMA) organization, they chose Can Tho as their destination, carrying with them a heart of volunteerism and the desire to support a healthcare system that still had many difficulties.
Before coming to Vietnam, Ms. Mic was a nurse at Lausanne Hospital, Switzerland; Mr. Jacques was a bioengineer, a man with solid knowledge and a passionate heart.
In the context of Can Tho's healthcare system still lacking and backward in both human resources and equipment, the support of you and the VMA association is a breath of fresh air bringing many positive changes.

During the 7 years (1995-2002), thanks to the dedicated support of Mr. Jacques and Mrs. Mic, hospitals such as Can Tho General Hospital, Can Tho Children's Hospital, and Vi Thanh Hospital were enhanced in expertise and had access to modern equipment, contributing to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment to serve the people.
The journey of Mr. Jacques and Mrs. Mic is a testament to the beautiful friendship between Switzerland and Vietnam, a symbol of compassion that transcends borders.
In 2002, due to health reasons, the couple returned to Switzerland; however, their love and responsibility for Vietnam continued. Vietnam Medical Aids (VMA) continues to accompany and support the health sector in Can Tho and the provinces in the Mekong Delta region to this day.
The journey of Mr. Jacques and Mrs. Mic is a testament to the beautiful friendship between Switzerland and Vietnam, a symbol of compassion that transcends borders.
