National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his remembrance and appreciation for the affection and personal sacrifices, including time, health, and money, made by Mr. and Mrs. Jacques Saviry to support the healthcare sector and the people of the city in the past.

Mr. Jacques Saviry expressed his emotion at meeting the Speaker of the National Assembly and his wife again; both sides reminisced about the memories and affection of the leaders and people of Can Tho when he worked in Vietnam many years ago, and the memories of when the Speaker of the National Assembly and the delegation of officials from Can Tho city stayed at his family's home during their visit to Switzerland to exchange experiences.

Mr. Jacques Saviry also said that later, upon returning to Switzerland, the Vietnamese Embassy in Switzerland, and Vietnamese friends from Can Tho, whenever they had the opportunity to visit Switzerland, would come to see him and his wife and show them warm affection; and he affirmed that such kindness is immeasurable.

With their affection for Vietnam, they have provided significant support to Can Tho in poverty alleviation efforts and have appealed to organizations to help Can Tho's healthcare facilities.

The fact that the Speaker of the National Assembly met with Mr. Jacques Saviry again after 24 years is proof of the strong bond and enduring friendship between the two sides, contributing to deepening the Vietnam-Switzerland friendship...

Mr. Jacques and his wife are considered exemplary figures, two humble people from Switzerland who have left a deep impression on the medical staff of Can Tho and the people of the Mekong Delta region.

In 1995, together with a group of doctors and nurses from the Vietnam Medical Aid (VMA) organization, the couple chose Can Tho as their destination, bringing with them a philanthropic spirit and a desire to support a healthcare system still facing many difficulties.

Before coming to Vietnam, Ms. Mic was a nurse at Lausanne Hospital in Switzerland; Mr. Jacques was a bioengineer, a man with solid knowledge and a passionate heart.

In the context of Can Tho's healthcare system, which is still lacking and outdated in both human resources and equipment, the support of the couple and the VMA association is a breath of fresh air that has brought about many positive changes.

Over the course of seven years (1995–2002), thanks to the dedicated assistance of Mr. Jacques and Mrs. Mic, hospitals such as Can Tho General Hospital, Can Tho Children's Hospital, and Vi Thanh Hospital were strengthened in terms of expertise and gained access to modern equipment, contributing to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment services for the people.

Jacques and Mic's journey is a testament to the beautiful friendship between Switzerland and Vietnam, a symbol of compassion that transcends borders.

In 2002, due to health reasons, the couple returned to Switzerland; however, their affection and sense of responsibility towards Vietnam continued. The Vietnam Medical Aid (VMA) organization has remained a partner, continuing to support the healthcare sector in Can Tho and other provinces in the Mekong Delta region to this day.

Jacques and Mic's journey is a testament to the beautiful friendship between Switzerland and Vietnam, a symbol of compassion that transcends borders.
