Closing the National Conference to disseminate the Politburo's Directive and deploy election work

This morning, November 15, after an urgent, serious and highly responsible working session, the National Conference on the implementation of the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term closed, completing all the proposed contents and programs. The Conference had about 2,000 delegates attending at the Central bridge point and 34 provinces and cities and about 200,000 delegates attending at 3,550 commune-level bridge points.

The conference listened to representatives of the Government, the National Election Council, the Central Organizing Committee, and the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee introduce a number of important documents on the election. In particular, the conference listened to an important directive speech by General Secretary To Lam , clearly stating the purpose, requirements, significance, and major policies and directions for all levels, sectors, and localities to seriously grasp, focus on leadership, direction, and implementation.

Closing remarks at the Conference, National Assembly Chairman and Chairman of the National Election Council Tran Thanh Man emphasized that the election results will contribute significantly to promoting democracy, consolidating the great national unity bloc, enhancing people's trust, successfully implementing the goals and tasks of promoting the cause of comprehensive national renewal, building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.

Immediately after this Conference, the Chairman of the National Assembly and Chairman of the National Election Council requested the National Assembly Standing Committee, the National Election Council, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, provinces, cities and relevant agencies to continue to coordinate closely, strengthen leadership, direction, guidance and organize implementation in accordance with the time frames prescribed by law.

In particular, some of the immediate key tasks are: deciding on the structure, composition, and allocation of the number of candidates nominated for election to the National Assembly and People's Councils; conducting consultation, selection, and nomination of candidates, establishing and announcing the list of candidates for the National Assembly and People's Councils; establishing local election organizations; promoting information and propaganda work, ensuring security and order, inspecting and urging the implementation of election laws... ensuring that the election takes place democratically, in accordance with the law, safely and economically, selecting people who are exemplary in virtue and talent, worthy of representing the will, aspirations and mastery of the people in the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels of the new term.

The National Assembly Chairman and Chairman of the National Election Council emphasized that the implementation of the election work in the coming time is very urgent, the workload is very large, taking place nationwide and right on the occasion of Lunar New Year preparations.

Re-emphasizing General Secretary To Lam's direction that "time is urgent, work is much, requirements are high, but the more decisive the moment, the more we must make efforts, seize time, work with the spirit of overcoming challenges, and act decisively for the interests of the nation and people", the National Assembly Chairman and Chairman of the National Election Council stated that this is the time for leaders of Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front, organizations, sectors and levels to demonstrate their leadership and command capacity; the ability to implement the Resolution into results and achievements; and demonstrate their endurance and ability to withstand pressure and work intensity.
