Northern Vietnam and Hanoi are experiencing cold weather, with temperatures dropping to 11 degrees Celsius in mountainous areas.

Around noon and afternoon on December 11th, a cold front will affect the northeastern provinces, then spread to the North Central region and some areas in the northwestern region.

Weather forecast for December 11th: Northern Vietnam and Hanoi will experience cold weather, with temperatures dropping to 11 degrees Celsius in mountainous areas. Hanoi , the capital city, will be cloudy with scattered light rain; the lowest temperature will be 14-16 degrees Celsius.

According to the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting, the previously reported cold air mass is still moving southward.

Around noon and afternoon on December 11th, this cold air mass will affect the northeastern provinces, then the North Central region and some areas in the northwestern region.

From the night of December 12th, the cold air mass continued to intensify and affect the Northwest, Central, and some areas of the South Central regions of Vietnam. Winds shifted to the Northeast direction, reaching level 3 inland and levels 3-4 in coastal areas.

From the afternoon and night of December 11th, the weather in the Northern region will turn cold, with some mountainous areas experiencing severe cold.

From the afternoon and night of December 12th, the North Central region will experience cold weather. The lowest temperatures during this cold spell in the North will generally range from 14-17 degrees Celsius, 11-14 degrees Celsius in mountainous areas, and below 10 degrees Celsius in some high mountainous areas; in the North Central region, temperatures will generally range from 16-19 degrees Celsius.

For Hanoi, there will be occasional light rain during the day and night of December 11th; the weather will turn cold from the afternoon of December 11th. The lowest temperature during this cold spell will generally be 15-17 degrees Celsius.

At sea, from the afternoon and night of December 11th, the Gulf of Tonkin will experience strong northeasterly winds of force 6, gusting to force 7-8; from the night of December 12th, winds will gradually strengthen to force 6-7, gusting to force 8-9; the sea will be rough; waves will be 2-3 meters high.

From the afternoon and night of December 11th, the northern South China Sea area (including the Paracel Islands) will experience increasingly strong northeasterly winds, reaching levels 6-7, with gusts up to levels 8-9; the sea will be rough; and waves will be 3-5 meters high.

From late afternoon and night of December 11th, the sea area from Quang Tri to Thua Thien-Hue will experience increasingly strong northeasterly winds, reaching level 6, gusting to levels 7-8; rough seas; and waves 2-3 meters high.

Due to the influence of a cold front combined with an upper-level easterly wind disturbance, on December 11th, both day and night, the Binh Thuan, Central Highlands, and Southern regions will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, with localized heavy rain, with rainfall amounts ranging from 10-20mm, and in some places exceeding 40mm.

On December 13th, both day and night, the central and southern central regions of Vietnam experienced moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms, with localized very heavy rainfall. Rainfall amounts generally ranged from 40-80mm, with some areas exceeding 150mm.

Heavy rain in the Central and South Central regions is likely to continue until around December 15th; thunderstorms may bring tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind. The risk level for natural disasters due to heavy rain is level 1.

Heavy rains are likely to cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods on small rivers and streams, and landslides on slopes. Strong winds and high waves at sea may affect shipping and other activities. Cold weather may affect crops and livestock.

Detailed weather forecast for day and night of December 11th: Northwestern region - Cloudy, with scattered light rain; light wind. The night will turn cold.

- The lowest temperature will be 14-17 degrees Celsius, with some areas below 14 degrees Celsius; the highest temperature will be 21-24 degrees Celsius, with some areas in the Northwest region exceeding 25 degrees Celsius.

Northeast Vietnam - Cloudy, with scattered light rain; light winds, shifting to northeasterly winds of force 3 in the afternoon, force 3-4 in coastal areas; cold weather from the afternoon, intensely cold in some mountainous areas.

- Lowest temperatures 14-17 degrees Celsius, in mountainous areas below 13 degrees Celsius; highest temperatures 21-24 degrees Celsius, in mountainous areas 18-21 degrees Celsius.

Hanoi - Cloudy, with scattered light rain; light wind, shifting to northeasterly at level 3 from the afternoon; the weather will turn cold from the afternoon.

- Lowest temperature 14-16 degrees Celsius; highest temperature 20-22 degrees Celsius.

Provinces from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien Hue: Cloudy, scattered rain in the north; rain, showers, and locally heavy rain and thunderstorms in the south.

- In Thua Thien-Hue province, there will be moderate to heavy rain, with very heavy rain and thunderstorms in some areas; light winds. In the northern part, from late afternoon onwards, the wind will shift to the North to Northwest at level 3, and level 3-4 in coastal areas; it will be cold in the morning and at night.

- Lowest temperatures: 16-19°C in the North, 19-22°C in the South; highest temperatures: 23-26°C.

Provinces and cities from Da Nang to Binh Thuan - Cloudy, with moderate to heavy rain, and locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms.

- Specifically in Binh Thuan, there will be rain, showers, with some areas experiencing heavy rain and thunderstorms. Northeast winds will be at level 3-4, with gusts exceeding level 6 in some coastal areas.

- Lowest temperature 22-25 degrees Celsius; highest temperature 26-29 degrees Celsius; in the South, some places may exceed 29 degrees Celsius.

Central Highlands region - Cloudy, with scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain in some areas. Northeast wind, 2-3 Beaufort scale.

- Lowest temperature 18-21 degrees Celsius; highest temperature 24-27 degrees Celsius.

Southern region: Cloudy, with scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain in some areas. Northeast wind, force 2-3.

The lowest temperature will be 23-26 degrees Celsius; the highest temperature will be 29-32 degrees Celsius, with some areas exceeding 32 degrees Celsius.
