Lesson 4 - Unite to reach further

In September 2025, Bac Kan will merge with Thai Nguyen province, closing the 28-year journey of construction and development. This is a new beginning for the restructuring phase and the expectation of reaching further from the foundations that have been built with all our heart and soul in difficult times.

At conferences and seminars on merger, leaders of Bac Kan and Thai Nguyen provinces agreed on the following point of view: Merger is not about "the new overwhelming the old", but about preserving the good together, renewing each other to move forward; there is no priority or disadvantage, only supplementation, inheritance and development.

The Standing Committees of Bac Kan and Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committees held a conference to exchange, discuss and give opinions on a number of work contents in the coming time.

With its strengths in forests, medicinal herbs, ecotourism and indigenous culture, Bac Kan will play the role of the “core ecological – cultural area” in the North of the new province. The natural forest area accounts for nearly 70%, along with a unique ecosystem, biodiversity conservation areas and abundant indigenous resources, which are advantages that are rare elsewhere. Bac Kan will therefore become a “green lung” not only for Thai Nguyen but also for the entire Northern Midlands and Mountains region.

When merged, Bac Kan will no longer be an "independent province" in the development planning, but an important link in the unified development axis, creating more room to promote socio-economic development. The arrangement will help optimize inter-provincial infrastructure planning and resource allocation, complete the regional interconnected transport system, and overcome traffic obstacles for mountainous and highland areas.

In the near future, after returning to a unified entity, a new development space will open up, combining the industrial and urban strengths of Thai Nguyen with the resource and ecological potential and abundant labor resources of Bac Kan. The combination of these strengths will create resonance, promote comprehensive development, and better exploit the unique potentials of each locality.

This is not only an economic opportunity, but also a promise to the people: Bac Kan children will grow up with more opportunities than their parents ever had. Bac Kan youth will not need to leave their hometown far away to make a living. And Bac Kan people will no longer stand outside the great flows of development.

“Ba Be Lake is loved by many people as a “green pearl” in the middle of the Viet Bac mountains. However, due to many reasons, including limited resources, Ba Be tourism has not developed commensurate with its potential and available advantages. Therefore, after the province’s merger, it is expected that there will be enough resources and strong enough policies for the “green pearl” to shine, especially in the context of the gradually improving transport infrastructure connecting Ba Be Lake with other localities,” said Mr. Hoang Ngoc Tham, Director of Ba Be Tourism Management Board.

Bac Kan is not just an administrative place. It is a region of memory, an identity, a spirit of life crystallized through nature, people, history and culture. Those values ​​are not lost in the process of unification, on the contrary, they will blend into a larger, deeper flow.

Consolidation is an inevitable requirement in the context of streamlining and streamlining the apparatus, helping state agencies operate more effectively and efficiently. Everything that Bac Kan has built over the past 28 years is a valuable foundation, a mark that will continue to be inherited and developed in the new administrative unit.

These achievements do not come naturally, and cannot be forgotten in any administrative process. The most important thing that Bac Kan left behind is not a name, but a strong belief: Belief in oneself, in the people here - kind, loyal, rich in dignity, creative and persistent in their progress.
