(CLO) The work "Essay on Balut Eggs" by author Tran Khac Khoan won first prize in the 2024 comic writing contest and the author will attend the Angoulême Comic Festival in early 2025.
On December 10, the French Institute in Vietnam and Kim Dong Publishing House announced the results of the 2024 comic creation contest.
The 2024 Comic Creation Contest is organized with the desire to find authors, comic artists and further develop Vietnamese comic works.

Starting from June 1st to November 1st, comic book authors and artists across the country sent more than 100 entries to the Organizing Committee.
After two preliminary and final rounds, the Jury, consisting of prestigious French and Vietnamese artists, found the best works worthy of awards.
According to the Organizing Committee, the entries are diverse in theme and style, demonstrating the creativity and enthusiasm of authors of all ages, promising to bring a breath of fresh air to the domestic comic market.
In the final results, the first prize went to author Tran Khac Khoan (born in 1990, Lam Dong province) with the work "Essay on balut eggs". The second prize went to author Cao Hoang Anh Thu (born in 1999, Ho Chi Minh City) with the work "Red pencil". The third prize went to author Tran Thao Nguyen (born in 1996, Ho Chi Minh City) with the work "Lockdown in foreign lands".
In addition, 2 consolation prizes were awarded to the group of authors Ngo Thi Ngoc Anh and Vuong Nhien Khang with the work "Book Rental Shop" and the group of authors Nguyen Hai Nam and Do Dinh Cuong with the work "Bug/Finding Evergreen".
Authors and groups of authors winning second, third and consolation prizes will receive prizes worth VND15 million, VND10 million and VND5 million respectively, along with certificates from the Organizing Committee.

The first prize winner will be sponsored to attend the Angoulême Comics Festival - the largest cultural and artistic event for comics in France in early 2025.
This is considered an extremely valuable opportunity for Vietnamese authors to exchange and learn experiences from the world's leading comic creators.
After the contest ends, with the support of the French Institute in Vietnam, Kim Dong Publishing House will publish the winning works and introduce them to readers.
