On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), General Secretary To Lam wrote a special article: "Vietnam is one country, the Vietnamese people are one nation." One of the profound messages emphasized by the General Secretary in the article is the spirit of national reconciliation and harmony, putting the past behind us and looking towards the future, for the common goal of building a prosperous and powerful Vietnam.

After being published in the mass media, General Secretary To Lam 's article received support, agreement, trust, and positive responses from cadres, Party members, the people, researchers, and others.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Trong Phuc – former Director of the Institute of Party History (Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy)

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Trong Phuc - former Director of the Institute of Party History (Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy): In the General Secretary's article, one of the profound messages emphasized by the head of our Party is the spirit of national harmony and reconciliation. Vietnamese people at home and Vietnamese people abroad, including those who were once associated with the old regime, who were once on the "other side," despite having different political views and perceptions at times, are now harmonizing and uniting with the spirit of eliminating hatred and resentment to work together to build a strong, prosperous, civilized, and happy Vietnam.

Humanity, compassion, and harmony are traditions and cultural values of the Vietnamese people for thousands of years. Even with the people of the Saigon government in 1975, after they surrendered, we treated them with great humanity and compassion. One detail that many may not know is that when the cabinet of Duong Van Minh announced its surrender, the commanders and liberation army soldiers in the Independence Palace invited members of Duong Van Minh's cabinet to stay and have a meal with our liberation army soldiers. Another detail is that we instructed our forces not to shoot at planes carrying evacuees, but only at forces resisting within the city. All of these things demonstrate the noble spirit of humanity and compassion of our nation.

The spirit of national reconciliation has been evident throughout the period from the complete liberation of the country on April 30, 1975, to the present day. We all know the famous quote by the late General Secretary Le Duan when he first stepped off the plane at Tan Son Nhat airport immediately after April 30, 1975, when he spoke of the spirit of national reconciliation and unity: "This victory belongs to the entire Vietnamese nation, not to any one person."

When embarking on the Doi Moi (Renovation) process, our Party clearly stated its position of being extremely friendly and humane towards those on the "other side," those who left the homeland to settle abroad. Therefore, in 1993, the Party's resolution continued to emphasize the spirit of national harmony, unity among all social classes, ethnic groups, religions, and both those at home and those residing abroad, in order to look towards the future, to build, innovate, and develop the country to become increasingly prosperous and strong. Later, the Party continuously issued resolutions on work related to Vietnamese people abroad, considering them an inseparable part of the great national unity.

That spirit of national reconciliation is brilliant and righteous, reflecting the morality and tradition of the Vietnamese people: "People of the same country should love one another." We even reconcile with the United States; the relationship between Vietnam and the United States today, from former enemies, has become a comprehensive strategic partnership, cooperating for peace, for the benefit of the people of both countries, and for regional security and stability.

The message of national reconciliation in the General Secretary's article is powerful, calling for a spirit of unity so that every Vietnamese person can take responsibility for building the country for the goal of sustainable and lasting development, as the article clearly states: "We cannot rewrite history, but we can replan the future. The past is for remembering, for showing gratitude, and for learning lessons. The future is for building, creating, and developing together."

Teacher Truong Thi Hang, Nghia Hung A High School

Teacher Truong Thi Hang, Nghia Hung A High School (Nghia Hung, Nam Dinh): General Secretary To Lam's article is a well-structured political essay, harmoniously combining emotion, theory, and practice. The article demonstrates the fervent patriotism, national pride, and far-sighted vision of a talented leader. With its rigorous argumentation, sharp language, and emotional depth, the article evokes patriotism and national pride in the reader.

This article has helped everyone living in today's era to clearly understand the value of the life we are enjoying, a value that was bought with the blood and sacrifices of our ancestors. From this, we can become more aware of our responsibilities in building and protecting the country today. The article also demonstrates the far-sighted, profound, and broad strategic vision of the leader of our Party.

I wholeheartedly agree with the content that national reunification is not the destination but the starting point. Reunification for building, reunification for development. The article also points out what we must do to develop the country in the digital age… As a teacher standing on the podium, I will convey the spirit of the General Secretary's article to my students so that they will be even more proud of their country, and from there strive to study hard to contribute to building the country, to continue writing "brilliant new chapters in the journey of national development," as the General Secretary believes.

Teacher Nguyen Nhan Ai

Ms. Nguyen Nhan Ai, Literature teacher at Kim Thanh High School, Kim Thanh District, Hai Duong Province: The General Secretary's article is a comprehensive and insightful assessment throughout the history of the nation, reminding us of the significance of the victory of April 30, 1975 - a victory of justice over tyranny, of the strength of national unity, and of a correct leadership that is in line with the people's will and the truth of the times.

In the article, General Secretary To Lam emphasized: "We cannot rewrite history, but we can replan the future. The past is for remembering, for showing gratitude, and for learning lessons. The future is for building, creating, and developing together." This is a meaningful and profound statement. Our nation has gone through pain and loss, but with courage, indomitability, and a spirit of unity, self-reliance, and self-strength, today we have every right to hold our heads high when recalling the past – the painful yet heroic history of "a nation with limited land and a small population" that could defeat any powerful enemy thanks to close unity under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam; and from that, we further cherish and appreciate the value of the peaceful life we enjoy today.

In this period of national transformation into a new era, we have complete faith in the leadership of the Party and the State, and we also reflect more deeply on our own sense of responsibility to society and the community, believing that we will be "a small spring" contributing to a great spring for our homeland and country.

Ms. Pham Thao Hien (Vietnamese expatriate in Poland)

Ms. Pham Thao Hien (Vietnamese expatriate in Poland): I have lived in Poland for over 20 years. As the General Secretary said in the article, I always carry in my heart a sense of national pride, as a "child of Vietnam," and I always have a deep longing for my homeland. Every time I visit my homeland, I am happy to see the changes there, happy that the country's economy is developing and that transportation is becoming more convenient.

The country is entering a new era, as the General Secretary said in his article: "We will not let the country fall behind, we will not let the nation miss opportunities." I believe that education is crucial to achieving this. Educating people to change their mindset, prioritizing the common good over personal gain, will lead to better societal development. I believe and hope that, under the leadership of the Party, and in the spirit of the General Secretary's article, we will invest more in education, teaching children not only knowledge but also the awareness to care for others and for a more prosperous Vietnam.

Ms. Le Thuy Hung, Thu Duc District, Ho Chi Minh City: Over the past few days, watching the parade rehearsals in Ho Chi Minh City, I felt proud of my country and even more grateful to the generations of our forefathers who sacrificed themselves so that we could have the life we have today. In that state of mind, reading General Secretary To Lam's article, my pride and gratitude deepened, and I truly understood the truth: "Vietnam is one country, the Vietnamese people are one nation."

From the years of hardship and sacrifice to today's peaceful and prosperous nation, all thanks to the brilliant leadership of the Party, of our beloved President Ho Chi Minh, and the strong unity of our people. I firmly believe that, under the banner of the Party, Vietnam will become increasingly prosperous and strong, steadily advancing on the path of integration and development. I will teach my children and I myself pledge to always love our country, live responsibly, and contribute to building and protecting our beloved homeland. I believe that Vietnam will always maintain its independence, freedom, happiness, prosperity, civilization, and flourishing, holding an important position and voice in the international community.
