According to data from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, Bamboo Airways is the airline with the highest on-time take-off rate (OTP), with 95.6% of flights on time, higher than the industry average of 88.3%.

The OTP rates of Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air are 89.4% and 84.8% respectively. With this rate, Bamboo Airways continues to maintain its position as the most punctual airline in the entire Vietnamese aviation industry.

Bamboo Airways leads in on-time flight rate for 5 months of 2023

In the first 5 months of 2023, Vietnamese airlines recorded 13,762 delayed flights, accounting for 11.7%, up 2 points compared to the same period in 2022; 380 canceled flights accounted for 0.3%, down 0.6 points compared to the same period in 2022. Of which, Bamboo Airways recorded the lowest delay rate in the industry at 4.4%, Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air recorded delay rates of 10.6% and 15.2%, respectively.

According to statistics, the main causes of flight delays include: Equipment and services at the Port; flight management and operations; airlines; weather; late aircraft arrivals and other reasons. Of which, late aircraft arrivals are the main cause of delayed flights during this period.

Flight delay and cancellation rates of airlines in the first 5 months of 2023

The aviation industry is recording strong signs of recovery through growth indicators and expansion plans to meet strong market demand. Statistics show that in the first 6 months of 2023, airlines transported 28 million passengers, an increase of nearly 27% over the same period in 2022. Of which, international passengers reached about 7 million passengers, domestic passengers reached about 21 million passengers.

Since the beginning of the year, airlines have strongly implemented plans to restore the entire domestic flight network, re-operate and open new international routes connecting key regions.

Vietnam Airlines has restored its entire domestic flight network and resumed 90% of its international routes compared to the pre-pandemic period. Meanwhile, Vietjet Air has opened 10 new domestic and international routes. Most recently, with the launch of the Hanoi -Ca Mau route, Bamboo Airways has completed its goal of connecting all 22 commercial airports in Vietnam.

Previously, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam forecast that the total Vietnamese aviation market in 2023 will reach approximately 80 million passengers and 1.44 million tons of cargo, an increase of 45.4% in passengers and 15% in cargo compared to 2022.
