Vietnamese archery hopes to fly high in 2025

The Vietnamese archery team had a quite successful year in 2024 when they won two tickets to the 2024 Paris Olympics for two athletes, Do Thi Anh Nguyet and Le Quoc Phong.

Although the results at the Olympics were not as expected, they will be a foundation for the archery team to be more determined with plans to improve in the new year 2025.

The team has also successfully renewed the contract with Korean expert Park Chae Soon - the coach who helped the Korean archery team win 5 Olympic gold medals.

Ending 2024 with many successes, archer Le Quoc Phong shared:

"In the past year, I won a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics, 16 gold medals at domestic tournaments, and set 3 new records. These achievements helped me happily welcome the new year, and also brought my mother gifts... in cash."

Waiting for a breakthrough

Over the past 3 years, the Vietnamese archery team has "rejuvenated" its athletes and the result is the remarkable rise of Do Thi Anh Nguyet (2001) and Le Quoc Phong (2000), from rookies to now pillars of the national team.

Besides, the team still has potential archers waiting for a chance to break through such as Nguyen Thanh Nhi, Hoang Thi Mai, Nguyen Duy.

Sharing with Tuoi Tre Online on the first day of the new year, Vietnam's number 2 female archer Nguyen Thanh Nhi (born in 2001 in Hue) said: "In sports , every athlete wants to have moments of splendor and glory. To achieve that, we ourselves must make an effort, practice persistently, and improve our techniques and mentality every day.

My immediate goal for the new year is to have a place in the Vietnamese archery team for the 33rd SEA Games .

During her career, Thanh Nhi won 3 gold medals at the 2022 National Sports Festival, 5 individual gold medals at domestic tournaments, 1 silver medal at the SEA Games and 1 gold medal at the Asian Cup.

Roadmap for SEA Games 33

After the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday, the archery team will soon regroup, preparing for internal competitions to select the team to participate in international tournaments and the most important arena of the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand.

According to the plan, the team will stabilize the squad by mid-March, then participate in the World Cup in China (April), Spain (May) and the World Championship in Korea (September).

These tournaments are a prerequisite for the team to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games taking place in December in Thailand.
