- Digital transformation in journalism is no longer a new concept for Lang Son Newspaper and Radio & Television. The "digital" element is present in every executive meeting, every field trip connecting to the cloud at the facility, and in every multi-platform journalistic work sent to the public.
From shifts in journalistic mindset to the application of technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in production processes, digital transformation is creating powerful changes in journalism.
A team of versatile reporters
In recent times, digital transformation in journalistic creation has been most evident among reporters. Previously, applying information technology simply meant reporters using computers instead of typewriters and sending articles via the internet. However, digital transformation now demands a completely different mindset. Our reporters have mastered technology, using digital tools and AI to change the way they work in the field.

The story of reporter Luong Hoang Nhu from the Special Topics Department is a case in point. In May 2026, she was in Khanh Khe commune to cover the Half Marathon race. Previously, reporters would take notes and photos, then wait for the event to end before returning to the newsroom to write the news. Now, that process has completely changed. Right at the scene, reporters work while simultaneously using their smartphones connected to the internet to process data, sending images and initial information back to the newsroom. Thanks to this, the post-production departments can quickly edit and publish information on the agency's digital platforms while the event is still in progress.
Reporter Hoang Nhu shared: "Digital transformation forces us to change from our way of thinking to our way of working. It's no longer about going to the field and then writing and submitting news articles; right at the scene, we have to apply digitalization to the entire creative process: from exploiting digital data to skillfully using multimedia software to process images and information on the spot."
Not only print and online newspapers, but also radio and television are undergoing significant transformation. At the News Department, reporter Ninh Tuyen is one of the young journalists who quickly adapted to the digital journalism environment. From information gathering, he replaced paper notebooks with smart devices and cloud storage applications. Image and audio data, once collected, are transmitted directly to the agency. In particular, the reporter effectively utilizes various specialized software and AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Photoroom to support scriptwriting, image and audio processing, and content optimization for television programs.
Reporter Ninh Tuyen shared: “In the digital age, if reporters still hold onto old ways of thinking, they will fall behind. Now, simply writing correctly and well is not enough. From an original work, reporters must also know how to transform it into various formats such as short videos , infographics, or products suitable for Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok to reach the public more effectively.”
The "sweet fruits" of propaganda
The quick and effective adaptation of the journalistic team did not happen naturally; it is the result of a comprehensive change in the mindset, management methods, and operations of Lang Son Newspaper and Television Station.
Currently, the Special Topics Department is responsible for producing journalistic works for print and online publications, as well as operating the Lang Son Newspaper Facebook and Zalo OA pages. The department's daily workload is substantial, while readers' demands for speed and quality of information are constantly increasing. Thanks to the strong emphasis on digital transformation in the review and publishing process, the department's information is always updated quickly, promptly, and accurately.
Journalist Vu Le Minh, Head of the Special Topics Department, said: "Previously, we spent a lot of time processing news articles. Since implementing the shared CMS content management system and digitizing the entire process, the work of nearly 40 staff members in the department has become much smoother and faster. To date, 100% of the staff and employees in the department have developed a digital mindset in their daily work and directly apply it to the process of creating digital journalistic works to quickly deliver information to the public."
To achieve these significant transformations, the Board of Directors of Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television has always prioritized human resources alongside investment in technological infrastructure. Journalist Nguyen Dong Bac, Party Secretary and Director of Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television, affirmed: The unit identifies digital transformation as a key task and a vital requirement for the local leading media agency in the current context. The agency's goal is to build a converged newsroom, with centralized management and multi-platform content distribution. To achieve this goal, in parallel with investing in technological infrastructure, the unit pays special attention to training human resources, helping each staff member and reporter develop digital thinking and skills to meet new requirements.
Thanks to the effective utilization of digital platforms, official information from Lang Son Newspaper and Television Station is increasingly reaching the public, as evidenced by the growing number of views, followers, and interactions. Since the beginning of 2026 alone, the Lang Son Newspaper's online platform has received over 4.5 million visits; the Lang Son Newspaper Fanpage has garnered 33.7 million views; the Lang Son Television (LSTV) Facebook page has reached 46.8 million views; and although newly developed for dissemination, YouTube and TikTok channels have already attracted many views for their concise and visually appealing news formats.
Ms. Luong Thi Thai, from Po Nhung village, Dong Dang commune, shared: “It’s so convenient now. Just by opening my smartphone, I can get updates from the Lang Son Newspaper and Television Station. The images and videos are rich in content, concise, easy to understand, and updated promptly, making it easier for us to follow.”
The initial results achieved are merely the foundation for the road ahead. With a determination to innovate and a desire for development, Lang Son Newspaper and Radio and Television Station are determined to continue using digital transformation as a driving force to improve the quality of journalistic activities. Each staff member and reporter will continue to learn, master technology, and create modern journalistic products, contributing to bringing official information to the public more quickly, accurately, and effectively in the future.
