From the very first minutes, Steffes-Ollig Feuerwerke GmbH & Co. KG impressed the audience with their performance titled "Pyrographics". True to its name, the sky over Da Nang was transformed into a giant "painting of fire," where each cluster of fireworks was a meticulously calculated and precise brushstroke.
With a history spanning over 150 years, the German team showcased their strengths in technique, structure, and near-perfect synchronization between music and fireworks effects. A highlight of the German performance was their masterful handling of rhythm.
Each fireworks effect was programmed to closely follow every musical note and climax of the melody. Energetic rock and film scores were continuously amplified, creating the feeling that the audience was watching a giant moving graphic masterpiece in the night sky. Instead of focusing on water effects or specific storytelling details, the German team chose to captivate viewers with precision, modernity, and a performance style deeply rooted in European tradition.
While the German team presented a technically sophisticated "symphony of light," Apple Pyrotechnics Co., Ltd from Macau (China) transported the audience into a mythical world with their performance of "Celestial Journey to the West."
Inspired by the classic novel Journey to the West, the Macau (China) team tells the story through the language of music and fireworks. Each chapter of the pilgrimage is recreated through familiar melodies, combined with cinematic fireworks effects.
The team continued to effectively exploit the strengths of water-based fireworks displays. Soft cascades of light, fan-shaped fireworks, color-changing fireworks, and clusters of golden fireworks reflecting on the Han River created a magical atmosphere, evoking scenes from the fairytale world of famous works.
Instead of opting for a fast-paced performance or excessive technical effects, the Macau (China) team focused on guiding the audience's emotions along the storyline. Music became a bridge, allowing viewers to easily accompany the journey of familiar characters from the memories of many generations.
The contrasting performance styles created a special appeal for the "Creative" night. On one side was Germany with its precise, powerful, and modern technical thinking; on the other was Macau (China) with its emotionally rich, cinematic, and imaginative storytelling.
According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Quan, a tourist from Hanoi, enjoying a fireworks display inspired by Journey to the West brought many pleasant surprises. “Journey to the West is closely associated with the childhood of many Vietnamese people. Both teams were excellent, the fireworks were spectacular, the music was captivating, and it left a lasting impression,” Mr. Quan shared.
Assessing the professional quality of this year's competition, Major General and musician Nguyen Duc Trinh (a member of the DIFF 2026 judging panel) said that the participating teams are becoming increasingly creative in telling stories through fireworks. Teams that have participated before are constantly reinventing themselves, while those participating for the first time also bring many unique elements. Each performance has its own distinctive mark, contributing to the richness of the themes of DIFF 2026.
Concluding the "Creative" night, the audience not only enjoyed spectacular fireworks displays but also clearly felt the diversity in artistic thinking of the international teams. From Germany's technically brilliant "fire painting" to Macau's (China) mythical journey, the Han River sky was illuminated with stories told through light and music.
Many impressive artistic activities
The fourth night of DIFF 2026 continued to offer audiences impressive musical experiences. On the main stage, alongside spectacular fireworks displays, the audience enjoyed a highly creative "music concert".
Bearing the cultural influences of both Vietnam and Germany, the appearance of the talented singer Trong Hieu added excitement to the DIFF 2026 stage. With the song "Ich Vermisse Dich," the singer told the story of young people who always carry with them hopes, love, and beautiful memories on their life's journey.
Alongside Trong Hieu, the participation of Muoi - a young female singer loved by the audience for her diverse musical style and fresh energy; singer Hoang Long, the Golden Lotus Children's Group, and the Trung Vuong, Mai Trang, and MTE dance troupes created an energetic space where creative spirit was expressed through youthful and modern approaches.
