Recently, a homeowner's security camera recorded a dangerous traffic situation on a busy road. The footage shows two young girls crossing the road, hiding behind a motorcyclist.
About halfway across the road, the older girl suddenly turned back onto the sidewalk. At that moment, the younger girl unexpectedly darted across to the other side. Simultaneously, a motorcycle traveling at high speed crashed violently into the child. The impact sent the victim flying onto the road. The child's condition is currently unknown.
In fact, recently, many localities have witnessed numerous tragic accidents where children suddenly run across the road without adult supervision. These situations often unfold very quickly, leaving drivers with no time to react.
Currently, we are entering the summer vacation period – a time when children have more time to play and engage in outdoor activities, often running and jumping in front of their houses, in alleys, and in residential areas. However, this is also a period with many potential risks of traffic accidents involving young children if they lack attention and supervision from adults.
According to the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety, children under 7 years old must be accompanied by an adult when crossing the road. Furthermore, everyone has a responsibility to support and assist young children when participating in traffic.
Young children are naturally active and curious, but they lack the ability to observe and recognize danger. Meanwhile, many parents, due to busy work schedules, leave their children to play unsupervised in front of the house or entrust them to younger siblings, posing numerous safety risks.
To reduce traffic accidents involving children during the summer, parents need to pay special attention to preventing children from playing near the road or in areas with heavy traffic; always have an adult supervise young children; and teach children observation skills and safe road crossing techniques.
In addition, families and schools need to cooperate to strengthen life skills education and raise awareness of traffic laws among children from an early age.
