On the morning of March 17th in Ho Chi Minh City, the 2024 National Press Conference, themed "Vietnamese Journalism - Pioneering and Innovating for the Revolutionary Cause of the Party and the People," concluded.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association and Head of the Organizing Committee of the 2024 National Press Conference, delivered a speech at the closing ceremony on the morning of March 17th.
Attending the closing ceremony were Mr. Tran Luu Quang, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Prime Minister ; Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Mr. Le Quoc Minh, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Ms. Vu Viet Trang, Director General of the Vietnam News Agency; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, along with representatives from ministries, departments, local authorities, and press agencies nationwide.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association and Head of the Organizing Committee, said that after three days of vibrant activities, the 2024 National Press Conference, themed "Vietnamese Journalism - Pioneering and Innovating for the Revolutionary Cause of the Party and the People," was a great success. This was the first time the 2024 National Press Conference was held in the South on such a large scale. Despite facing many difficulties, the unity and cooperation from various departments, agencies, and press organizations attracted 120 exhibition booths from 63 provinces and cities. This was a gathering of journalists from across the country.

"Over the past three days, the 2024 National Press Conference has featured many interactive activities and exchanges that have helped increase connections among journalists and between the press and the public. This is a beautiful aspect of journalism. The Conference demonstrates solidarity between the press and various levels and sectors, between the press and businesses, and between the press and the public; thereby together seizing opportunities, overcoming difficulties and challenges to better serve the people," Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi added.

Within the framework of the 2024 National Press Conference, the Organizing Committee judged and awarded prizes including: Outstanding Exhibition Booth Award; Impressive Tet Radio Program Award; Impressive Tet Television Program Award; Impressive Tet Electronic Interface Award; and Impressive Tet Newspaper Cover Award to press agencies. Among them, the Vietnam News Agency won the Outstanding Exhibition Booth Award, while VietNamplus and Tin Tuc newspapers won the Impressive Tet Electronic Interface Award.
In his remarks, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia commended the Vietnam Journalists Association and other units for successfully organizing the 2024 National Press Conference. This year's theme pioneered the dissemination and guidance of public opinion on important political, economic, social, defense, security, and foreign affairs tasks of the country; innovation in leadership, direction, and management thinking in information content, production and publishing processes; and diversification of revenue sources to ensure the press maintains and enhances its leading role in information and communication activities, aiming towards the noble goal of serving the great cause of the Party and the People.

"The 2024 National Press Conference, held for the first time in the South, brought together hundreds of central and local press agencies at all levels; the Vietnam Journalists Association in 63 provinces and cities; thousands of journalists nationwide and thousands of members of the public. Notably, many university students and international guests also took the time to visit, study, and directly participate in the conference activities. This year, the conference truly left a positive impression on everyone, highlighting the professionalism, humanity, and modernity of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism. The theme "Vietnamese Journalism: Pioneering Innovation for the Revolutionary Cause of the Party and the People" was clearly demonstrated through practical and engaging events, exhibitions, forums, and tasks, opening up new knowledge, strengthening solidarity among press agencies and local Journalists Associations, and enhancing the close relationship between journalism and the public," said Mr. Nguyen Trong. The Head of the Central Propaganda Department also expressed his wish that media agencies focus on effectively publicizing the implementation of socio-economic development tasks this year; closely follow the pulse of life to reflect, contribute, create, and spread good and humane values in society; bring policies, laws, and regulations into life, meeting the aspirations of all citizens; and at the same time continue to promote digital transformation, apply modern technology, pay attention to investing in upgrading equipment and facilities, and constantly innovate in production and broadcasting.
Furthermore, press agencies need to strengthen the building of a clean and strong Party, continuously cultivate and enhance the political acumen, revolutionary ethics, and professional skills of journalists; and gradually improve each press agency to become a model cultural institution. The heads of press agencies and magazines must fulfill their roles and responsibilities within their duties and authority, especially in implementing legal regulations on the press, particularly in better upholding the principles and objectives, and implementing strict management measures and creating favorable conditions for collaborators, reporters, and editors to carry out their work.

Furthermore, the Vietnam Journalists Association needs to promote the emulation movement to build culturally sound media organizations and journalistic culture, organize association activities effectively; and at the same time, address violations of regulations on professional ethics of journalists; strengthen monitoring, supervision, inspection, conclusion and handling of violations of professional ethics and rules on using social media by journalists at all levels of the association from the central to local levels; continue to innovate political and ideological education; strengthen the organization of seminars, focusing on training and developing modern journalistic skills with journalistic methods in the digital environment and disseminating, educating, and inspecting professional ethics and conduct on social media.

The 2024 National Press Conference, chaired by the Vietnam Journalists Association in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, took place from March 15 to 17 in Ho Chi Minh City. This was the largest-ever National Press Conference, with the participation of over 600 media outlets from central to local levels, including nearly 300 media organizations and Vietnam Journalists Associations from all 63 provinces and cities nationwide.
