(CLO) On the evening of November 17th, the Department of Culture and Sports (CST), in collaboration with Architecture Magazine and the UNESCO Office in Hanoi, organized the closing ceremony of the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2024, with the participation of a large number of Hanoi residents and international tourists.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports Do Dinh Hong said: "During the 9 days of the festival, 110 activities were organized, belonging to 12 typical cultural industry fields such as architecture, fine arts, performing arts, film, advertising..."
The highlights include creative community parades, iconic structures, creative space installations, exhibitions, art performances, experiences, and international and domestic seminars and workshops. Through these, the spirit of creativity is spread throughout architectural spaces, cultural heritage spaces, creative spaces, craft streets, and traditional craft villages across the districts and towns of the capital city."
Director of the Department of Culture and Sports, Do Dinh Hong, delivered a speech at the closing ceremony.
According to Mr. Do Dinh Hong, the festival is likened to a fascinating and colorful "feast" of creativity, showcasing the talent of many generations of Hanoi residents. The organized activities are a dialogue between existing structures, connecting creative ideas with community memories, aiming to promote cultural values in the development of the creative industry.
The opening ceremony, themed "Intersection," made an impressive debut for the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2024. The event recreated the "Long Van Khanh Hoi" and "Market Street Parade," a grand-scale performance blending traditional and modern art, offering a unique artistic experience that garnered significant attention, support, and applause from the audience and the people of Hanoi.
The three iconic structures – the Pavilion “Innocent Corridor”, “The Stream”, and “Dragon and Snake Ascending to the Clouds” – instead of standing independently as in previous festivals, are arranged in interactive positions this year, creating a dialogue with the architectural heritage.
During the 9 days of the festival, 110 activities were organized, covering 12 typical cultural industries such as architecture, fine arts, performing arts, film, advertising, etc.
The two major exhibitions, "Indochina Sense" at the University of Natural Sciences (Hanoi University) and "Hanoi Children's Palace - Nostalgia for the Future," affirm the boundless creativity of artists and architects, showcasing unconventional thinking and unique arrangements while still preserving traditional values and harmonizing with the landscape and exhibits.
Seminars and workshops have brought new insights to creative activities in the capital city, such as: the seminar "Creating Images of Hanoi in Cinema Across Eras"; the workshop "Tradition from the Perspective of Contemporary Architecture"; and the workshop: "Building Models and Products of Cultural Industries from Intangible Cultural Heritage Resources in Hanoi"...
"Through this, we aim to evoke systematic perspectives from researchers in culture, history, art, architecture, etc., contributing to the creation of a new intellectual community. In particular, the biggest highlight of this year's festival is the participation of the community, with over 500 organizations and more than 1,000 creators, including many talented young artists who have achieved success both domestically and internationally," Mr. Do Dinh Hong emphasized.
Moreover, the disabled community and other vulnerable groups in society actively contributed as professional innovators. The festival attracted nearly 300 young volunteers who assisted with organization, welcoming and guiding visitors through the experience.
After 9 days of organization, the festival achieved unexpected success, making a significant impact and receiving great support and positive feedback from the people of Hanoi and tourists. Specifically, more than 300,000 visitors came to participate and experience the activities at the main points of the festival. People not only came to visit and experience but also interacted and joined in with the activities and events.
The Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2024 received a strong response from the community.
Furthermore, businesses and households in Hoan Kiem district demonstrated a "host" spirit, proactively supporting locals and tourists during their visits. This year's festival facilitated the pilot implementation of pre-packaged "Creative Tours" by travel agencies, recording thousands of online payments daily. Creative experts also experimented with leading "curator tours," "architect tours," and "artist tours" to maximize information accessibility for the audience.
The strong influence of the Creative Design Festival further affirms the capital's position as a Creative City, while also promoting the development of cultural industries in the city.
