The Central Highlands Regional General Hospital reported that it recently admitted and treated a 12-year-old child with severe injuries, including crushed hands, caused by a firecracker explosion.

The child had to have his entire left hand amputated and four fingers on his right hand amputated due to a firework explosion.

The patient is a 12-year-old male from Cu Ebur commune, Buon Ma Thuot city. Around 6 PM on December 14th, he was admitted to the emergency room at the Central Highlands Regional General Hospital in a state of multiple injuries, traumatic shock, rapid pulse, low blood pressure, significant blood loss, crushed right and left hands, multiple wounds to the face and both eyes, a wound to the right lower leg, and gunshot wounds to both right and left feet. Immediately, doctors from the Trauma and Orthopedics Department of the Central Highlands Regional General Hospital performed surgery on the patient.

The surgery lasted over two hours, and the child received four units of blood. Due to the severity of the injuries, the child had to have their entire left hand amputated, four fingers on their right hand amputated, and the wounds on their legs and lower legs were cleaned and left open. The abrasions on their jaw and face were examined by ophthalmologists, and their vision is currently blurry. Currently, after the surgery, the patient's health is stable and they will be transferred to a higher-level hospital for further treatment.
