Michelle Lai, whose real name is Lai Le Nhat Uyen Trinh (27 years old), grew up in an ordinary family. Belonging to the transitional generation between the 90s and Gen Z, Michelle simultaneously absorbed two spirits: discipline and seriousness from the previous generation, and the adventurous spirit of young people. This forms the foundation of her unique personality amidst a rapidly changing creative environment.
Her passion for art led her to the Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Film. Unexpectedly, a health crisis struck as a harsh test. Just two months after enrolling and having accepted a small role, Michelle was suddenly informed by her doctor that she needed urgent heart surgery. The two weeks preparing for the surgery coincided with two weeks of rehearsals and performances. She pleaded with the doctor to postpone the operation, just so she could complete her role. She admits that it was a risky decision, but this choice helped her realize she truly loved acting.
In 2022, Michelle graduated with honors, achieving a perfect score on her exams. Prior to that, she had already gained experience in stage performances, sitcoms, short films, music videos, TV commercials, and modeling from an early age.

Instead of rushing into casting, she chose to pause for nearly two years to slow down and experience roles other than acting. Facing reality, she asked herself: could she continue without financial stability ? Ultimately, she chose to work and earn her own money to pursue her dreams, rather than letting them become a burden. Michelle has become increasingly well-known and loved through social media – where she often practices her acting rhythm, experiments with different characters, and listens to audience feedback. She has many videos that have garnered tens of millions of views, with over 800,000 followers. Even so, Michelle doesn't want to stop there; she aspires to create more profound and lasting value through roles that require more investment and dedication. At the end of 2024, Michelle returned to casting and landed her first film role in the project "Let's Go Home!". Director Tran Dinh Hien and the production team saw similarities between Michelle and the character Ly – a modern Gen Z bride, outwardly playful but with many layers of emotion. Approaching the role with empathy, she began building the character through small details, bringing a part of her real-life personality into Ly, but restraining it so that her performance wouldn't be monotonous.

"Let's Go!" is not only Michelle's debut role on the big screen, but also a milestone showing that a young person like her has the patience to go far, through belief, positive effort, and seriousness in her profession.
Looking back on her journey, Michelle doesn't shy away from feeling like she's "slower" than her peers. But she normalizes that. Everyone has their own pace, as long as they don't give up halfway. "My biggest support system is my belief and my family. I believe in what I think, and I believe that with enough perseverance, I can do it," she confided.

The styling was also a memorable challenge: the striking bleached blonde hair required Michelle to bleach and dye it repeatedly 4-5 times throughout the filming process to maintain the color amidst the sun and wind of the coastal region.
