Việt NamViệt Nam26/11/2023

Go Noi - An Binh ferry terminal is preparing to resume operations from November 28.

The Go Noi - An Binh cross-river passenger ferry terminal is licensed by the Department of Transport to the Vam Co Dong Waterway Transport Cooperative No. 1 to operate. Each ferry is allowed to carry no more than 12 passengers and 12 motorbikes. During its operation, the licensed unit must fully comply with the provisions of the law on ensuring order and safety of inland waterway traffic and other relevant legal provisions. Fully equip life jackets, life-saving and rescue tools and arrange for vehicle operators with appropriate professional certificates according to regulations.

Mr. Nguyen Van Chieu - Director of Vam Co Dong Waterway Transport Cooperative No. 1 said that after the road leading to the ferry terminal (Sam Noi 2 road, Thanh Binh hamlet, An Binh commune, Chau Thanh district) was upgraded, people's travel and transportation of goods became more convenient and safe. In addition, the need to cross the Vam Co Dong river of the people of An Binh and Ninh Dien communes still exists, so the Cooperative has proactively asked for permission from the authorities to resume the ferry terminal's operations. Currently, the Cooperative has inspected the vehicles and is preparing to complete the preparations so that the ferry terminal can operate as soon as possible, ensuring smooth operations, best serving the travel and transportation needs of people in the area. It is expected that the first ferry will resume operations from November 28 (October 16 of the lunar calendar).

The road leading to the ferry terminal (Sam Noi 2 Street, Thanh Binh Hamlet, An Binh Commune) has been upgraded.

The Go Noi - An Binh ferry officially came into operation at the end of 2018, connecting An Binh and Ninh Dien communes (Chau Thanh district) across the Vam Co Dong river. However, due to the narrow road leading to the ferry (Sam Noi 2 road, Thanh Binh hamlet, An Binh commune) and the constant stagnant water, mud and slippery conditions when it rains, making it extremely difficult for people to travel, the number of passengers is decreasing, the ferry operator is losing money and is forced to stop operations from August 2022. Since then, local people have had to take a detour in two directions via Ben Soi bridge (Thanh Long commune) and Go Chai bridge (Long Vinh commune), with a travel distance of more than 10km. Recently, Chau Thanh District People's Committee has implemented a project to upgrade Sam Noi 2 road, connecting the ferry terminal with the residential area of Thanh Binh hamlet, An Binh commune. The road has been widened and the asphalt surface has been solidified, no longer damaged or muddy as before.

The resumption of the ferry terminal meets the expectations of people living on both sides of the Vam Co Dong River, helping to shorten the distance and save time for people in Ninh Dien and An Binh communes.
